I would pay money to have a teddy bear in the cockpit.
I would rather that Hawken just goes straight retail. Set a price for the game and I'll pay it.

so long as they don't put ANY game affecting elements behind a paywall, I'd spend money on whatever else they put out.
cosmetics, custom sound packs, exclusive skins, whatever... we'll throw money at you any way we can as long as you stay honest to the game.
Me? I want my raider to have a dixie horn, a gold Corsair that shines across the map, an AM-SAR that coughs confetti instead of smoke, decals to put on my mech (bonus points for clan logos), and a custom soundpack with Laila in my ear telling me exactly how much that ship costs. That's what I would pay real money for (on top of everything I already paid real money for).

Pubstomping is a whole different strategic discussion, however, and usually just becomes an exploration of the ethics of dumpstering randos.
Why mech game make when you no mech game have you don't want to make?
*applause*Alright, fine. I drop by for any news about the game and can't resist this topic.
"What would I pay real money for in Hawken?" Nothing.
Call me old-school. Call me a grumpy old fart. But my tolerance for all the microtransactions in games has come to an end - I'm completely sick of it. I think it is ruining gaming.
Why do I think it's ruining gaming?
Well, because of the business end of things. Unless your game is a well established franchise with a strong track record of profitability, you're probably not going to find a single investor or publisher unless you build your game to be "free-to-play" with built in "microtransactions". And that means lots and lots of compromising of artistic vision in lieu of how can we compromise players impulse control centers and stimulate their pituitary and adrenal glands to get them into an addictive state of mind. This model gets used because it is proven to give investors the best returns.
And now, it's even ruining those aforementioned 'established franchises' where publishers like EA are taking an "All of our games will include a microtransaction economy built in, even the ones which we charge a premium price for."
I'm sorry, even though I've been playing video games since 1977 and it's been a beloved part of my life... I may just have to quit at the point where one must constantly sink money into a game just to be able to enjoy it. I've got hundreds of old games that I've been meaning to play again...
So, back to the question, "What would I pay real money for in Hawken?"
I would rather that Hawken just goes straight retail. Set a price for the game and I'll pay it. If you release a sequel or a huge update, I'll buy that too. But I will not pay for access to new maps, access to new mechs, access to new game modes or access to new weapons. And I will never play the game again if it turns towards any evidence of "Pay-To-Win".
If they must keep the 'real money for cosmetics', FINE. I don't care about how my mech looks... but I don't have a problem with players who want to pay for vanity.

More skins, models and cosmetics, sure. BUT everything in Hawken design style. Not the fuzzy bunny that TF2 customisation turned into.
Come on Crafty, you have been officially called out on your lies. Your online reputation is at stake here, this is just like an old school street race running for pink slips. Its run what you brung and hope its enough. Put up or shut the fuzzy bunny up.

How much would you pay for a "Hawken complete pack"?
I would easily pay $40
There was a point in time where I would have paid $60... but the scaling back on graphics, effects and sound, coupled with other changes I didn't care for, turned me off about that much.
To be serious for a moment this is just a joke
How much would you pay for a "Hawken complete pack"?
What content are you thinking of? Only cosmetics?
In my mind, a "retail" pack would be at least g1 mechs unlocked and fully leveled and their weapons unlocked. And maybe a few MC* on top of that to by a small handful of cosmetics (maybe enough for one cheap one for each category?).
I wouldn't buy it, since i already have al the mechs, but i spend a retail games worth of money on cosmetics (before reloaded could get any of that money, unfortunately). i'll probably buy more once enough cosmetics that i want are available (i buy these in batches) AND a significant game update happens (like, adding a new mech (not counting g2, unless it actually has 3 lefthanded weapons)) at which point i'll actually play the game again.
as for a new kind of cosmetic that i might pay money for, maybe some kind of "death effect", some purely visual effect for when the mech explodes.
I have a lot of ideas and would like some feedback on them:
Suggestions for fixing things:

Suggestions for new things:
^I think that GreyFa1con meant exactly what I was saying, "Just plain buy the game."
For Hawken, to me, that would mean nothing more complicated than "The game with the maps and game modes included." I would still happily grind my way up through the progression system to earn HC to buy mechs, weapons, internals and everything else. I do not have a problem with the cosmetics having a real-world currency price attached to them. And those prices would be more reasonable if they weren't the only way the game could earn any profit. If people are willing to pay a little to play dress-up with their mechs, icing on the cake.
In fact, and I know this is blasphemy around here, if Reloaded pulled access to the game and said, "The Hawken beta has ended. The official, full version of Hawken is now available at a retail price of $__.__ which you must pay to access the game. All stats, progress and mechs will be reset back to day one as if you are a new player. If you previously had invested real money into the game, that total amount will be applied to your in-game wallet so that it is not sacrificed." I would be perfectly OK with that. I had a damn good time working my way through leveling up every mech and earning every weapon in the game and would happily do it again.
Better yet: Reloaded creates a bunch of new content, fixes the big bugs and then releases it all as Hawken 2. Then they sell that as a retail game.
ANYTHING that prevents this from evolving into a loathsome Pay-to-win game and puts some earning potential back into development.

So imagine say what you get is every Mech, and every item, and every internal. But zero cosmetics.^I think that GreyFa1con meant exactly what I was saying, "Just plain buy the game."

We need more chassis options, more taunts, more paint jobs, more thrusters, more cockpit customization...
Basically, more of everything we have now.
So imagine say what you get is every Mech, and every item, and every internal. But zero cosmetics.
Nah, not really what I mean.
For me, part of the fun of a video game is actually earning my way into new things. I like playing hard to level up and earn things in the game that you can only get by doing the hard work. Hell, before microtransactions, that was how almost every game was: racing games made you work your way up the ranks to earn new cars, fighting games made you beat characters before you could ever play as them, etc. I do NOT want things handed to me, I want to work for them.
I would pay $40 to just plain buy the game I started with just one mech (CR-T) and one primary weapon, with no internals or items... and have to work my way up to earn everything else.
