Can we get a video of someone in Hawken using these sophisticated cheats?

Like maybe the Devs can make an account and roll on it and post a first person vid.

I'm curious to see these "undetectable" hacks.

I maybe see ONE hacker every two months.  ONE.  MAYBE.  On NA servers.  Either some weird speedbot or aimbot.

Besides that, barely anything hacking related to complain about.

I do constantly hear haccusations though, what fun.

To the video linked above, I see that player daily and I can confirm they bot. Nothing like raider blitzing under somebody's G2A while they're at 250 ping and have them track perfectly. Now I know that it's possible to track at that ping however not when I'm certain I'm breaking the crap out of their turn cap. I know there's at least one member here who can vouch for how well I can do that to somebody in the air while playing my raider.

Edit: the video three posts above

I keep seeing MAC address being used as something to block, but it's not something that will work as MAC addresses can be changed/spoofed/replaced if someone knows what they are doing.

Devils Advocate -> Then there is the problem of it blocking multiple players who might be using the same machine and don't cheat.

If Reloaded was to implement something like this, I would suggest something that isn't really 'spoofable', such as the Windows product ID or CPU Serial number, both of which are accessible via API's

Edit:  Yes, these are changeable as well, with the product ID being the 'easiest, but they are a lot less 'easy' to change than a MAC address.

I understand the difficulty mah friend, actually there will always be a way to circumvent the system, but some users like this video I posted are very familiar of the community, we say that it passes a certain sense of impunity (common practice in Brazil hahaha).

But really there other easiest ways to hinder these users would be very valid, and great for the community.

Aimbots now do NOT have to snap. Period. The hacks now are so sophisticated they can look like a normal player who is really good. For real. And no, if he is a new player you will NOT be able to tell if he sets it up right. (well mostly) Not if he lets himself die sometimes. Not if he sets the hacks to miss on a irregular basis.

Cheaters who are that smart are rare. They do not make up the majority. And aimbots do not set these things up automatically. They have to be user-configured, and most cheaters don't understand that or why they should do so.

There's one EU right now that's been aimbotting for a couple weeks, I saw it, a lot of others saw it. At least 2 people recorded video of the snaps and tracking through walls and as far as I know one of them submitted a report a while back. Aimbotter is still playing though on the very same account, it'd be nice to have an ETA on how often reports are looked at.

Having games ruined by this guy and the usual shithead that feeds daily is becoming tiring.

If you haven't seen videos of cheaters in Hawken, and I'm not talking about aimbot advertisements, then you haven't been paying attention. Even with the previous forum's no-callout rules, plenty of evidence of aimbots was posted publicly.

I mean, I have a video on YT that's just me following around a aimbotter on my team for the entire match.

Agreed. This game and community is too damn awesome to let fuzzy bunny bags like them move in and ruin it for us all.

Agreed. Great game. Great community. Hackers are not welcome.

We can run a "web crawler" kind of thing through herokuapp, which scans each mech and if any of the values for things such as accuracy or stuff like that is above IAreDave's, we can conclude they are cheating. I like this solution.

IMO, there are two things that should coincide with impeccable aim in hawken. The ability to maneuver, and the ability to repair. If the good aim is present, you should have a good view of the suspect's aim, as well as whether or not they know how to dodge. A smurf will dodge. An aimbotter will most likely just bunny hop. If you can view the profile, then check repair times. Even a brand new smurf will have repaired at least once. An aimbotter might never repair.

So, a pilot with perfect aim - able to track a target before it leaves visible cover - who never dodges and never repairs... Higher possibility of being an aimbotter.
Or a bad smurf. Or a talented noob....

I am glad to see people taking this serious. I want to say first of all........MOST accusations are not hackers. They are either high end people on smurf accts or they are (a lot more rarely) someone who just takes to the game fast and is really good quick. But........I'd like to add, yes we have hackers. NOT a lot now, not even remotely like it was last year. That was whack. They were thick as flies. They got bored and left, thankfully. Now we have some, enough to control if people continue to help. Most of what the low end people are going to catch are with recording videos. The high MMR players know what to look for and can catch the ones that get by the low/mid people. Thank all of you for caring and for helping. This is all I wanted and it is all I asked. I am now a happy camper.

**afterthought** Remember this, it only takes a handful of cheaters roaming the servers to screw it up for too many people. Especially new people who are more likely to ragequit because of it. Or just plain discouragement. We NEED new people to make the game grow. To keep this great game growing larger everyday.

**FOR AJK** Just a after thought. I thought I would address what you said about  "Cheaters that smart are rare". You're right. Most are not. Most are not smart enough to set it up well enough to be pretty much "undectectable". It is possible, but not as likely. But then remember too, cheat mods have been around for a very long time. And some of the people using them have too, lol. But even a average cheat can setup the cheat mods fairly decent now because they are being written so well now. Like I said, these aren't high school boys writing them now. They are grown men who are full blown coding pros. I chance saying some may even have college degrees in it. Some have corporate backgrounds. Remember, the largest hacking groups on the planet are companies, not governments. :) They have more spies and spend more money. They kill people over stupid product designs because its big money. In the billions or tens of billions of dollars for some. Game cheats are becoming big money because of lazy people. Sad. But all in all I agree with your post.

Are you positive that the players you think are hacking are actually hackers? Sometimes it's just a better player. Although that's not to say that hackers don't exist. It's just sometimes quite difficult to differentiate between a good player and a hacker.

I play just about everyday and I saw 2 hackers yesterday.  First time I have seen hackers in Hawken.  Expect more as the player base grows.  If a hacker is identified and called out in game, every player should just hunt that player down.  His team should fire at him too just to protest.  Then make a report and send it to support.

CapnJosh had mentioned they were looking into anti-cheat programs.  For now, I am making a list of names, and gathering video of cheats.

We don't want this in our game!!!!

Met the guy in the video posted in the end of page one of this topic also in the last week - still playing. But honestly - this kind of cheaters aren't the biggest problem of bad player behaviour. N3onfx mentioned it already: in the higher ranking eu servers we have one guy feeding a lot and in the next match playing very good. Absolutely unreliable and annoying. He is also known for trolling teammates with emp's - I think the silencer made a thread (no call out btw) about him having trouble with the guy in the old forum. What would help a lot imho is a simple kick vote - function.

Regarding modern cheats there was an article I read a while ago - the most intriguing thing was the fact that modern cheaters in the competitive scene use very subtle "aim improvers". These are way more problematic because you will never get that fixed on a deathcam.

the usual shithead that feeds daily is becoming tiring.

On the rare occurence that there's a server availible for me, I really want to play.

But ofcourse, every single damn day the guy comes in and ruins otherwise very close and fun matches.

Nothing is being done about that certain player.

It's made me and alot of others rather angry.

Video evidence has been made and sent a long time ago already in support tickets.

More recent ones have only led to answers like "please wait while we handle this".

Wait for how long untill they actually do something?

Months?

A year?

No, punkbuster would take all of a couple days for hackers to get around, it's as easy as Hackshield. It'd have to be something thats harder to get around an give some kind of encryption to make cracking it harder.

Yeah I didn't mention it because theoretically it's possible to have that tracking (even though that player used to suck and now never misses, ever) but the snap is impossible because of the turn-cap rate.

I am so glad to see so many people taking a interest in this. It's a good thing to shine the light on bad people doing bad things. It's hard for them to hide in the corner, in the dark with so much light being shined on them. It's hard to hide when everyone is looking for you. LOL Keep looking, keep making videos so proof can be given to support. Sooner or later those using cheats will have to be banned or the community will suffer. If the community suffers the game suffers. If the game suffers then Reloadeds income suffer because of a loss of clients. Happy people are necessary for a game to grow. I want to thank all of you for you diligence in pursuing these lazy people who cheat. THANK YOU.

Many of us have dealt with someone who seems 'too good to be true' and often times, is. I am talking about hackers, and cheaters. So far, the only proof we can show to others that someone has discovered a hacker, is by catching them on video. I have been trying a different approach. If I am in a match, and player x has a score that is too high, I will leave the lobby after the match is over, and look at the suspicious player x's profile. What I look for, is usually how many kills/deaths, wins/losses, and hours played, to determine if player x is legit or not. Since I am only a player of the game, I may often have a bias of 'this guy is totally hacking! no one is that good!,' which is why I have not said much of anything until now.

What I have been doing, is taking screenshots (I play over steam) of suspicious player profiles, but I have no idea on what to do with these screenshots. Should I post an album to the forums? talk to capnjosh? or just wait till Reloaded deals with the issue, as that will happen anyway?

Not sure on how to finish this, so thank you for your time.

-Isaac

Didn't read the whole thread but what is so special about hackers? I mean you still can kill them. These are amateur hackers with no real experience and it is easy to kill them. Laugh at them, ruin their fun and everything is fine.

That's what I usually do. And if you get killed by hackers, so what? You get killed every day. If this is fun for them why crying in the forums. Hackers come and go.

I myself never saw a potential hacker playing a game longer than one week.

There are really more important problems in Hawken ...
