While I think this news is great, I will save my cheers until we get a more "concrete" list of what to expect on the next patch and a more accurate timetable on implementing these features. I am hopeful that these patches will draw a few of our Alpha and Closed Beta brethren back into the fold and bring this gaming community back to a state of vibrant activity and life.

Ok,

I've translated the main content of the Producer's Letter to Spanish. It may be of help for many Spanish speakers in here as well.
In case any of the mods/devs/publishers may think this post should be duplicated and/or moved to any other branch of the Hawken forums then, please, don't hesitate and feel free to do that.

Do we know how or whom are chosen for the advanced battalion yet, and when the clan support will be rolled out. If I am correct, we don't really need a full patch to get clan support rolled out.

Advanced Battalion will be getting an email notification. Clan support will be coming with everything else in the patch, unless it gets delayed for some reason.

It is nice to see a community update on what has been going on lately in your neck of the woods Hughes, thank you. I think you must be half Canadian with all the apologizing regarding update delays. I wouldn't stress it too much, the people that are here to play the game are here to stay.

Advance Battalion. This just feels wrong to me. It feels like a step up in segregation. Who is on the short list and how exactly did they get there_ Time spent on the Advance Battalion roll-out could have been spent just refining timely patches. The game is still in Beta, the community should expect rough times and I am interested in being a part of that initial feedback on the patches when they are released to everyone. But, reading the second to final statement at the end of the letter, I realize you and your team are stretched thin and these lump sum patches are your current reality. I see that using community members that have a lot of free time to poke holes in coming patches will help out a lot but I just hope that it doesn't cause a great feeling of alienation to pilots that are not a part of AB.

I think Hughes said it would start sometime this weekend barring any delays, so I guess if anyone was in the AB they would know by then.

From what I understand the Advanced Battalion won't be receiving special support or anything like that but rather a means for the team to increase their play tester base with a controlled group. The Advanced Battalion server will be for the upcoming patches that are in a rough state not fit for public play but looking for refinement in terms of balance and working mechanics.

This is actually a really good thing because this means more people will have hands-on time with the content and be able to provide proper feedback so adjustments can be made while that content is being worked on. As it stands now a lot of the time going back to fix something or balance it means time spent away from working on the next patch and the team isn't big enough to afford these kinds of distractions, especially when dealing with a content patch of this size. With Advanced Battalion that player group will be able to help ensure that content is better balanced and ready for the public when it hits.

Don't think of it like the developers running two separate games and modes but rather as a test realm. Maps can be played without textures, new weapons and mechs can be tested without all the audio and such functioning, and more.

Something like this will definitely rekindle my interest in the game. At the moment, it has been stolen away by IRL projects and monster hunter...

I'm excited to see of I get placed in that advanced testing group. I haven't been playing much recently, but -strongly- participated during alpha and earlier beta. Guess I'll watch my inbox. :)

That's it_! After so much time we've gone without updates this is what you give us_! Are you freaking kidding me_! Oh my God I am so enraged now! I mean, I expected a few features and you decided to be a good guy and COMPLETELY revolutionize the game adding so much_! God damn it Adhesive, just god damn it, I asked for so little but you gave so much! Why guys, why do you do this to us_! Why do you have to make us shed man tears of joy_! Unbeliveable.

Don't shed too many tears just yet, because you'll never know up front whether or not you'll even like these changes.
For all you know you could end up hating the new levelling/equipment system.

@Hughes : Aaah, i see the suggestions of having players pre-test patches has not gone unnoticed.
Very good;  i think this is something that was sorely needed in the development cycle, because as much as this game is ADH's baby, having you guys test changes yourselves without outside consultancy of some sort is less than optimal.

As for the rest, i'll reserve my judgement for when this is rolled out;  can't judge content you don't know.
