in the continuation of this theme:
https://community.pl...-haщkeи-design/
and this:
https://community.pl...-feel-of-power/
I would like to ask the Hawken pilots.

would you like Hawken looked more like a simulator_ or arcade_
and why_

More specifically, under the word "simulator" - I mean, more realistic behavior of mech, feeling of heaviness gait, feeling of recoil / spread of bullets, shaking screen, more serious consequences after landing/falling (recovery time).

I'm not talking about a system damage or turning hawken into MWO. No. Only the visual side and special effects.
Because after ascention mech looks more lights, and hes don't feel like mech for me. ascension changes made mech as if "toy".

This is a great question. I used to say HAWKEN is an unique blend of western mech simulators and eastern arcade mecha games.

I like the feel of pre-Ascension Hawken much better than post-Ascension.

You liked HAWKEN before it was cool_ Your avatar with the glasses and the moustache makes you look like a hipster. :P
But this is not a mainstream statement.

The developers say that they will not implemented damage system (part damage system), perhaps it is not necessary.

I would put the task:
make Hawken looked like a simulator, but don't create simulator in total.

Hawken like a fake-simulator! it is feels like simulator, but it is not! Posted Image

hmm...sound little strange =3

Also I see some topic about hawken on MW:O forum, and ppl there say, that hawken sux, cuz it's just arcade/shooter. And this fact sometimes confused mech fans. Cuz their see on hawken screenshot, and expected see a post-apocalypse mech sim. But instead this he have an arcade.
I think if will HWK been seems like sim, but will be easy in control (like it's now) it will be great.

It's too late to make Hawken a simulator. It's core gameplay and technology is far more focused on first-person-shooter-style stuff.

The real question is what specific features are worth "stealing" from the simulator-side.

Progressively improving the cockpit's integration would increase the SIM factor much more. Already discussed and hopefully evaluated already and put on some relevant lab table already... crossing fingers here..

A bit more simulator please then we do not have to put up with flying canery zerkers which are totally unrealistic!

Uh, no, as much as the Air Compressor annoys me, even normal dodges would--"realistically"--turn the pilot into jelly inside the cockpit.

If you insist on "realism" you'll have to junk 99% of the game.

Yeah, it's too late for that - players looking for a mech sim would be playing MWO anyways.

I'd like it to keep the games overall feel, but go back to the original cockpit setup. It seemed a tad more immersive :)

Your'e piloting a giant walking battle-mech, made of a metal alloy with the ability to heal itself, in a post apocalypic future on another planet. I'm pretty sure small flying mechs don't count as 'unrealistic' ;)

Also, Hawken is in many ways reskinned (albeit very very nicely reskinned) version of Unreal Tournament (sensible, given the Unreal engine) and therefore "Arcade By Default".

This. I love it just the way it is, and any version after this.

I play this game partially for the game and partially for the fact that I don't have to deal with 12 year olds trying out their new squeaky man voices and slightly increased vocabulary.

Mostly though, I love the community (that's all of you). We may not agree on everything but we all still know that in game we are all there to have fun and enjoy a thinking persons shooter with deeper strategy then memorizing spawn points and being really good at pulling a trigger faster than the next guy. Seriously I love you guys!

Thanks!

devs already say, it's never happen.

who say you this bullsh!t_
U3 engine = engine.
if you want, u can make a "racing game" on U3 or even 2D arcade.
hawken loses many features in movement and shooting. actually, right now game really look like Unreal 3 clone. but closed beta hawken was more complex and feels like "light mech sim".

aaaaaaaaand, actually it does not matter, topic so old, and tooooo late for this. Hawken remain arcade  forever.

actually, right now game really look like Unreal 3 clone.

First, I know it uses the engine. I literally just told you that. While it's always possible to push the envelope, reusing a third-party engine does have a significant effect on what kind of gameplay can be feasibly created.

Second, you insult my post as "bullsh!t", but in your next breath you've done a 180° and seem to be agreeing that it has a lot of similarities. Which is it_
