New map idea: Vitrolium Factory

A large, war torn ruined city, possibly at dusk to give it more atmosphere, with a Vitrolium processing plant in the middle of it.

This would be set in a partially destroyed factory type building. The interior would be bathed in an eerie blue light which would spill outside and illuminate some of the near by ruined buildings.

Could be a large map like Bazaar. Would be used for all game types. Fighting would take place in and around the factory. There would be a lot of good sniping positions on some of the ruined buildings and the upper floors of the factory.

Cool idea, but would it be even cooler to have the entire map take place entirely inside a Vitrolium factory too_ I just feel there's so many maps already existing that promote long range fighting. Those thoughts aside, imagine you shoot the pipeline accidentally and an explosion occurs or a vitrolium leak happens, damaging or blinding temporarily anybody in the vicinity...Environmental hazards could be lovely. :)

a factory, we already have - facility

I propose to combine a factory part (something you could walk inside), and half map with the city design (car, buildings, to be able to assess the mech scale comparison)
as a wreckage, half map - ship/ half map - environment

design inside factory

imagine some gigastructure inside factory and outside town part too (little less than origin), tunnels, giant broken fuel tank (and not broken too =D)

heart of factory - the main generator, although the factory was destroyed, it is still in operating condition

I was thinking more on the lines of a refinery type building, I just couldn't think of the right name for it because it was about 4 in the morning, lol.

i like the idea of underground/ tunnel warfare. how about an old underground metro system

because bow ties are cool

You could easily incorporate a large underground area on a map like that, with openings all over the map. You could also have part of it that has collapsed and is exposing the area below. That would be interesting. Reminds me of a map from the first Sniper Elite game.

I think Your drawings/concept are wonderful. But I would still prefer to combine chat "city + factory". Because entirely made of tunnels that just was "maps for scout and brawlers".
But hell!!! inside it looks so good. And this round big fuel tank (with vibrolium)!

Argh! I want it with town and cursed by gigastructure!

sandspider, you know what I hate most_
you have created a good topic with a good idea, that when finalizing professional designers might look very great in game. But this topic is interesting only 7 people.

While the topic about idiotic zero-g map scored over9000 views. And this is quite a stupid idea not suitable in Hawken. But people want to see this idiocy instead normal map.

It's sad for me (q_q)

Awwwwww, it's ok.

I'm sure the Dev's look at these posts and filter out the less helpful ones.

After all they took the crashed battleship idea and turned it into Wreckage, and the jungle/forest idea and turned that into Last Eco.

Throwing in my two cents on the refinery idea.

From top to bottom, have the distilling and burn-off towers act as sniper nests, ground levels long yet labyrinthine, and tight, winding tunnels below for wastewater/unobtanium disposal. Could use the surrounding city as one of the starting areas, the other being the remains of a decaying/gigastructured storage tank field, or at least have one in the distance. Not really sure if you could fit something that seemingly large into the size limits imposed by the engine or developers, if any.

I thought it might be cool to have something like this in the inside of the processing plant. It would add some great lighting effects.

Instead of vitrolium, how about a refinery for that special metal of which the name escapes me. There is a mining facility map why not a refinery.
