Attention pilots!

I would like to take a vote, and know, which mech cockpit variant  you like  more!
This vote not about reticule, crosshair or radar position. Only about cockpit HUD.
this topic is just for curiosity

1) Old Hawken HUD.
Amount of HP, speed sensors, the amount of fuel, items, ability - all built into the cockpit, as on the dashboard in a car. picture for an example (if u don't see game before)
Posted Image

2) New Hawken HUD.
All mech info (hp, fuel, dodge, etc.) created like Floating Hologram Indicators/Bars, as if you're wearing a helmet iron man. Only items and ability are mounted in the cockpit. picture for an example.

Just want know, which better_

I like the look of the old HUD, it definately has more of a mech feel to it. You can keep the old HUD while keeping the current gameplay with no problem.

I stand by my point that you don't have to change gameplay to make the game feel more like a mech game, you just have to add little things to increase immersion.

In regards to players who like the old vs new HUD:

We can not change anything. Even if the result is 1000/0 in favor of the old cockpit.

we never have both. one of them died forever.

Remembering his own words, it is impossible to make the switch, where you could choose the Old / New.
So, forget about this brilliant idea (i mean, have old and new at the same time)

This is good, because the old cockpit brought my computer to its knees for some reason. Could run BF3 on ultra with processing to spare, but all medium and low graphics with a modified ini for hawken, i barely busted 20 fps while looking at a wall. Then I'd get EMP'd and my FPS would shoot up to 60 :V

New hud good, but lacks flavor. At the end of the day I like things working rather than looking pretty.

I think it is 1000's of money. IT IS 1000,s OF MONEY!!!.

Why do you think that is to blame of old HUD_

I played in older version of Hawken since closed-beta. After turn off smoke in my configuration files, i don't have FPS-drop. and hawken working perfect without smoke on my i3, radeon 5770 and 2gb ram.

I repeat questions. What makes you think that old HUD has killed your PC_

that some of your personal problems, I have a pretty weak PC by the Hawken standards (oh, thats my 2 gb ddr), but without smoke it works perfectly and gave me playable 80fps in open-beta (with drop in fight to 50-60). I strongly doubt that HUD may reduce performance for you at 40fps, but not to reduce fps for me.

Perhaps the old HUD just does not like you PC personally
As far as I know. HUD problems were associated not so much with the performance, but with it work with servers.
(oh, hard for me to explain it, because I'm not English, and I can not properly write the terms)

Ofc the old cockpit! It was so immersive

IMO the main problems of new cockpit are size of special ability icon (it should be large, not HUGE) and health/fuel indicators (they break the immersion. I don't feel myself in mech. Some effect of perspective would be nice (look at example below))

To be honest, I like the new one more.

At first I hated it, but I grew fond of it after a while.

Old one for sure. I liked having the cockpit instrumentation showing armor, heat etc. Also give us back the cockpit sparks and the other effects that made the old Hawken gameplay trailers stand out.

I wasn't around for the old cockpit, but I like the new one. In addition to it being more streamlined (which I know some of you view as a negative) it appears (by old videos and pictures) to be more easily navigable with a glance, making it better for a fast paced game.

The health bar is of primary concern. Yes, you can see the number pretty clearly in the old HUD and that's certainly good, but at a glance, I like the ability to easily (key word) discern my armor status. It's larger, more granular, and closer to the areas on screen where I am generally looking.

I also don't think it's necessary or realistic to include XP in the HUD.

Basically the new HUD is just much more clear and likely gives at least a small edge over the old one. Is the old one more immersive_ Some of you would say yes, but I actually don't know. There are still floating pieces of information, and there always will be considering the targeting reticule is directly linked to the mech's position, not external information- and iron sights are obviously not viable. I think, based on the fact that you are going to be forced to have floating information, you should make the best of it and consider the new HUD just as immersive.

the old one looks in some ways to be better, but the time it would take to get used to the old one would be annoying. Besides the old one has its data in smaller areas(i.e. liittle circles) that is visually distracting to me. sure the old one has its visual perks, but the new one is probably more realistic. I mostly agree with ticklehisiguana (it isnt my iguana). The older one is more chunky.

I like them both for different reasons. The old one was immersive, but I find the new one better for gameplay. This game is mostly about the gameplay for me, so the new one wins.
