I think he means console players actually playing on a console spliff. There have actually been a handful of games that have tried a multiplatform online play where pc players can play console players. In the games like that the console players really do get slaughtered, a keyboard and mouse gives you a huge boost of control over a controller and as such gives a huge advantage. I can't think of the name of the games but I know a few xbox 360 tried cross platform online play and literally professional gamers were getting taken down by mediocre pc gamers because of that gap in control.
I think it's more so the dedication Of PC Players over Console gamers.
Personally, I do find Console gamers more "casual" than PC players. But like I said I have met exceptions.
Agreed they are exceptions not the rule.

I'm not trying to slight console gamers, or call them casual. It's simply the difference in controls that creates an artificial ceiling upon playing with console controls.

You should of course take this with a grain of salt, but it comes as a small surprise to people who play shooters on both platforms.

Well it's 12/12/12 Thanks for voting all. Looks like there will be no Steam release today.

That's not to say that that it won't happen in the future. Keep voting and let the dev's know what you want as a gamer. Write about why.

It's quite consistent and clear Steam should be and option.

See you on the battlefield!

I found Steam and Hawken had audio interference issues. As well, Hawken and Teamspeak didn't play well together either.

I hope this has changed for open beta. I like communicating with my group outside of Hawken{helps me recruit more Hawken players too}.

I love using steam for every game, sadly the only games I cannot use it for is diablo 3 and starcraft 2, i boycott origin and pretty much any game non-steam... except D3 and SC2..

Those who are not using steam or other such services already cannot offer a fair opinion on whether it should be offered on them.
Also steam is by far the most popular service, making the poll somewhat biased.

Steam offers some advantages, but is not the end-all of pc gaming.
It offers convenience primarily, but is still restrictive and a more costly option than a good self-hosted distribution.
Steam will cost money to utilise, even those f2p titles without any paid content.

Anyone get it registering with steam as a game_ I don't care so much about the interface. Just nice for my friends to see "In game HAWKEN" then they know what i'm playing and why i do not answer their IM's lol

I find that Steam doesn't play well with Hawken. Kills my mic each time I get a PM from Steam.

I also have conflicts with Hawken in game chat fuzzy bunny up if i have a 3rd party program like Mumble, Teamspeak, or Skype running in the background.

Hawken needs to be more 3rd party friendly.

I'd like hawken to stay as a free-to-play, but im a bit worried that i would have to pay-to-play hawken. i doubt it but there are some other things other than Steam having a lot of platforms would be better.

I voted for Steam, cause not only is it a great and challenging F2P gameplay, it would get alot of people to toss in and get in there. Also, another perk for game devs with F2P account options, you still get players who don't but the permium, but are willing to use real money for MC, just to get that new weapon or that shiny new mech off the line.

I'd love to see Hawken on Steam but, I know they are better off on their own. Releasing on game consoles would be near game breaking and hindering for the devs.

That is a great way to get more people to play Hawken. Steam with Hawkenon the list of F2P Games would actaully give the Hawken Devs a chance to show off this game, in all its mechanized glory. I hope soon, a mech part shop would be introduced into the game. Also, the 1 thing I find with F2P games that has players with better gear cause they paid, should be oppisite for Hawken.
