This is my resolution to the Orbsorbing problem. Remove Orbs as an item and after death drop to place them at spawn points across the map. Sort of like a refueling station. It doesn't need to be large like the EU station. I'm thinking something simple like a little small jump platform but spawns an orb every 30s instead. I seen it in Overwatch so it must be good. Many older games do this too. Recently I played Transformers which was similar and it works really well. It enforces better map placement by everyone knowing where certain life and death is.
There are probably more upsides and even some downsides to this I haven't thought of yet. Specifically map design and placement of the orbs could be problematic. Problems like Predators camping and laying mines split up over the repair stations. It'd also take time for something like that to be set up and then consistently placed and watched on. Maybe a good Pred who is quick enough might be able to cover enough ground while watching map rotations to split up mines on at most two different repair stations.
How much should the repair station repair, would you need to stand on the orb to get the full repair or could it work as a set numbered heal over time with an extractor allowing faster repair ticks, and how many repair stations can a map hold? I was thinking no more than 3 to 4 making them fairly spread out.
I could see this idea being expanded upon other items too. Remove turrets as an item to design a mech that places down turrets instead to make a legitimate builder. I don't want to type anymore. Bye
