Let's take someone with zero understanding about the community and give them power over the community and expect them to do a good job navigating the labyrinth of community jokes, memes and other shenanigans.
This can only end well.

So basically anonymous players who are fairly new to the game, likely have limited in-game knowledge for either PC or console, and have little exposure to high MMR players are going to be expected to be able to competently identify cheaters and therefore issue developer-backed action on players?
I think that sounds like under-qualified for the job
I mean no offense to the mech mods and I urge them to do their tasks to the best that they can but that, objectively speaking, does not sound too good
I really hope you guys (and girls if there are any) prove me wrong
Can't handle the sauce?
I don't know what you're talking about. I picked up the game a few weeks ago, and it certainly doesn't take years of playing it to be good. I feel like I play it competently enough.
Oh.... well, it's that, just... how will you refute this statement: 'Even Devs smurf'?
edit: the point in red is more relevant.

Oh.... well, it's that, just...
I mean, I took four years to get here. Somewhere north of 6000 hours. You're just gonna pick it up in a week or two?
I mean, if you know who I am in game, and I know who you are in game, then I think we're gonna have some combat.
And, how will you refute this statement: 'Even Devs smurf'?
some people take different times to get into the game "and get good," for example, devotion picked up the game and was more or less 2600 MMR almost immediately. So it doesn't take years to "git gud" so to speak. Everyone develops their skill at their own pace.
however, the proof lies in the gameplay, let's get Mech Mod 1 in a match and see if he/she can match their words with their aim. Or even a simple gameplay video would suffice.
I wouldn't insist on gameplay videos or duels or anything. If he/she is scary good, we have to trust them, right?
After all, RLD's biggest thing with this community is trust, right?

I, for one, welcome anonymous oversight from players who haven't been around too long. I'll be honest and give them a chance.

I know. I took a while. While it may not be strongly correlated with time, it's generally the case.

How about the mods take turns doing some streaming on the PlayHawken/OfficialHawken twitch? Dev/mod streams are a good avenue for community interaction, provide a way to show off your skills and/or get tips from other players, and can draw in new players if the stream is advertised as an event with giveaways and such. This was something that ADH actually did pretty well, and improved community relations by a good deal.

Do me one favour though mech mods...

With no reference or statements on the accessibility and complexity of the game (I don't want to start another 'challenge the mech mod'), how long have you Mech mods been playing Hawken?

more TL=DR:
ok, mid thread reply: keji, you're on target (pun?). Mech Mod [insert # here] i've never seen ingame at anytime. No Respect, no earning it, don't expect it.
and a month or two and you're Scary Gud; i have nearly 5 years ingame as a crappy player when i can tag Craft, Amid, hestoned, and other milge once or twice in a Sunday DM or War Wednesday and i've NEVER seen anyone that is into the fun side of the game as a dev for 3 years, play us (btw: my MMR is 1488). come in here, say HEY! I'm a Mod and I want your best Challenge Bucket to ramp up against our dev team! and actually be the one guy that gets demolished and has fun doing it. You're making claims unwitnessed by the player base, not offering evidence to it, and expecting some hardcore gamers to Buy It. Try playing the game with us.
Now that is fun.
you are acting like a buncha scared wusses getting home as fast as you can befor the school bullies catch your lame asses, and your mother having the CPS come out and take care of business instead of teaching you wilp kids to get up and fight.
Joins us. Fight us, and enjoy what we do, and quit acting like a buncha paranoid already ass-whipped pooseez.

and i got rekt one night and thot i had a wonderful idea; and got (more) warning points for a Call Out because I addressed Tiggs in the title. like i was hackusing instead of being in a fabulous pro-platform mood with Helps for the new + old communities. Toxic (the word that got me permabanned from the old Forums), but it's pertinent.
this venue and it's governance has become Toxic.
I don't know what you're talking about. I picked up the game a few weeks ago, and it certainly doesn't take years of playing it to be good. I feel like I play it competently enough.
In all fairness we were lead on for quite awhile about how and why Hawken would be different, which at the time did make sense. Of course we can now see that everything we were told before was either outright lies and nonsense or Josh speaking from a position that he'd have more control over the situation only to later on find out he'd have none.
So now not only do we have a Community Manager who doesn't play Hawken and is in no way part of the community but we've now got a team of Moderators who don't play Hawken and aren't part of the community. Match made in heaven I suppose.
Now we're at a point where people are being banned and slapped with a ridiculous amount of warning points for minor offenses because they dared to criticize the game and question Reloaded's actions. Never mind the fact that the community was lied to and strung along for over a year, never mind that Reloaded has done next to nothing to inspire confidence from the player base, never mind the actions of the Community Manager and the Moderation team being highly questionable. It's either all in line and play nice like nothing is wrong or face being banned for voicing concern and taking issue with how things are being done here.
The parallels between Howken and APB Reloaded are pretty striking at this point including poor performance, repackaging old content as something new, focusing more on micro-transactions with a stronger P2W progression system, lackluster support, and more.
It's truly sad to see the path that Hawken is going down and how things are turning out. It's sad to see that the vision we were original pitched by Josh was never what was actually what was going on. It's sad that personal opinions can now get you banned because it makes Reloaded look bad even though they've done that job on all their own.
I know others have expressed similar feelings in this thread and others but I feel it's worth repeating, even if Reloaded still doesn't get the message and most likely never will. Hawken deserved better than this and I'd like to think those of us who have stuck around, supported Hawken, offered feedback, worked together to setup in-game events, and more deserved better than this.
If there's one thing Reloaded has done successfully it's making me miss the days of Adhesive.
my Shilling

Weird how one of the Mech Mods keeps posting and closing threads but won't introduce themselves here....
Thought this was about building a relationship with the community and getting to know these people?
Dear Mech Mods:
Displaying any degree of competence in any of your posts will make us love you. I recommend one or two of the nine being total dinguses so we can love the other 7 by comparison.

For all our complaints about mech mods being faceless randos, I haven't seem much in the way of actual interview questions in this thread.
How about this:
Edited by Hyginos, 01 August 2016 - 07:05 AM.
Hyginos to be honest these are the questions for C05, not "noname mods".
I don't feel the need to introduce "noname mods", they are not "community managers junior", I just expect them to be a calm, invisible and efficient Hawken Police Department.
I other words I hope to never see them posting

While a lot of Hyginos' questions are jokes, he's got a point. A small one, but it's there if you look hard enough.
I'd like to know which gaming communities you've been a part of before.
What were some experiences in those communities that stood out, for good or for bad?
What sort of contributions do you feel you've made to them?
What sort of moderation style are you used to and what can we expect moving forward?
How would you describe your family?
What's the most captivating or interesting fact you know?
This one, APB: Reloaded, FFXIV (Reddit side) WoW (Official side), I'm also part of a general gaming community that a up-and-coming Twitch broadcaster worked to create, and a couple gaming charities.
Experiences that stood out:
APB: Reloaded The Creation forum. The community has a toxicity issue the Mod team over there is working to calm but despite that the players come together and create some pretty amazing things using what the game gives them. Some great pictures, videos, and 3D renders in there.
FFXIV: The Marriage system in the game and how players come together to be a part of it. It's actually a quite beautiful sequence and offers some great benefits to the married players. I wish more MMOs offered something like it.
WoW: I'm a fan of the XPAC Launch events and Timewalking, both seem to bring players together around what's new and what we're nostalgic for, respectively. This week is Wrath of the Lich King dungeons and that's my jam.
Private Gaming Community: This whole community brings together a ton of people from different interests who do nothing else but join under the banner of "stop gaming alone". There's too many great experiences I've had with them to pick just one, but they've done a lot to bring me out of my comfort zone with games and have me try a bunch of new stuff.
Charities: It always shocks me just how much Gamers can come together and dig deep to support a cause. When I used to livestream for them and break 4-digits on the donation meter through my small community it boggled my mind. Gaming charities can do great things and they have a lot of support behind them.
As far as contributions to these communities, it varies. Some I lurk around, others I've worked my way up to positions of influence. Some I have a direct hand in driving the direction they go.
Moderation style? I borrow a bit from my military days, I'm very cut & dried and fire & forget. The Community rules are posted, if you break them and I take action, there's not much more to it. I don't hold grudges or actively stalk someone I think is going to screw up. A user messes up, I correct it, problem solved.
My family is a typical gamer one. Not sure how else to describe us.
The most captivating fact I know is what we understand about the sheer magnitude of the universe. We live in a sponge.
We live in a sponge.
Are you sure it isn't 42 sponges all squished together into one massive sponge?
Ridding the world of evil, one Berzerker at a time.

In which case you'd have no trouble answering some questions, no?
What is your MMR? How many hours do you have in-game? Favourite mech?
You also said you enjoy japanese things, top 5 anime/your MAL pls. Also, who is best girl
How about this? If Kittens beats a Mod then you surrender the entire game to us players :)
