Hi, mods. I'm tickle. You likely won't see me around very much, as the direction that Hawken seems to be taking, in terms of its gameplay, business model, and community management structure all appear to be directly counter to what I, and almost every player that has ever voiced an opinion on these forums possess. I truly do not know how that happened; if you were making changes at random, I'd have hedged a bet you'd have gotten one or two things right, but, that's enough for now.
I created the War Wednesday that's been mentioned a few times and hosted it for over a year after its creation, alongside several other one time events, and am one of three head administrators on the teamspeak that's also been mentioned a few times. I've created several guides, endured the last silence, teaming up with burnshot/fawkenawesome to douse some of the nonsense that occurred previously, have run in the last two seasons of TPG, and between this account and mine on the old forums, between this account and my several alts, likely have more posts - many of them fairly salient, and more hours in game - many of them fairly sober, than all of Reloaded combined ever will.
This post has opened up with "You suck, I don't" so I anticipate we're getting off on the right foot.
Sorry about that.
Many of the people here are my friends. I don't mean that we play the occasional game together, I mean that this game has provided the basis for hundreds if not thousands of hours of communication and support for each other - filtering in and out of my head alone. We've had long discussions on different kinds of whiskys, business plans, favorite literature, relationship advice, new cars, new jobs, new people, places and things - there are a couple people here that I turn to as frequently as some of my closest friends from college or, more recently, the military. The people here that aren't me, they have similar experiences.
Hawken, when you found it, was a truly great game. It may not have been able to get off the ground financially on its own - though many of us who've been here for years and have put lots of thought into it attribute that largely to an identity crisis between "mech sim" and "arena shooter" that's gone unresolved in its advertising, in addition to huge chunks of money going into advertising techniques that were far from ideal, and then some of your basic publisher-developer interaction fuzzy bunnyness, and not being able to appropriately deal with early on pay to win perceptions. Basically, there was a real lack of self awareness. Nonetheless, Hawken is an excellent game. It has the purest class based gameplay I've ever witnessed (of course it could use a handful of tweaks). It has the best vision for mech games that I've ever witnessed. It has some of the most original sci-fi artwork that I've ever witnessed. It is an excellent piece of craftsmanship.
I say this because I want you to be aware of what you have. I want you to be aware that each time you sell out on one of those things, each time you cut a corner, each time you alienate the community or decide that you know what's best without consulting the people that have poured years of their time into this game, you're killing that. You are responsible for this game. You are responsible for this community. You are responsible for thousands and thousands of connections and friendships and hours and hours and hours of escape from lives that are altogether entirely separate. You are responsible for this bridge, this common place we all share.
You don't need this fuzzy bunny introduction. You need presence. Actual presence - not a ticket on some poor guy's windshield every time he parks too far from the curb. You need identity. And you need to be involved with this community.
You're responsible. Act like it.
Sometimes...
And let's be honest here, only sometimes,
I remember why I like you.

What? No. How dare you make a glossary that doesn't feature my name first and foremost under "A."
I don't get this. I don't hate these people. Why even say that?
Because these people handed out quite some random bans lately, I suppose. Also because the community is toxic, of course, always wanting to see negative things only and for no reason at all.
Actually, the more I think about it, the bans were probably well deserved and all the hate I am starting to feel is for the community who forces this onto these poor souls.

I was disappointed to find out when I clicked on this thread that it wasn't regarding in-game mods for mechs, of the software type.
This clickbait thread needs moved to off-topic since it has nothing to do with the game,...mods?
Quite the introduction given that you've managed to ban at least two prominent community members within the space of this thread.
I fully recognize that Merl towed the line, I mean he's like 17 what can you expect. That said he had his uses, among them offering help to ANYONE who wanted it. But how the hell did Amid deserve a perma. I've seen nothing but constructive criticism from the man, and if you think it's harsh that's because you fuzzed up a lot. God knows he's done more for the community than anyone at RLD, especially given that we have the console population numbers now. I am literally dumbfounded by this decision.
Salvage: An Idea to Stop Leavers
Sorry for ruining the mood, but...
Where are the rest? Why do we only have assorted numbers? When will the rest show up? Are they different timezones?
Can we get general MMRs for the new mods? I don't mean specific numbers, something like "Oh yeah I'm MMR 1700-1800 with 70 or so hours in game"
It would certainly help with public relations to know what kind of playtimes and tiers the new moderators are at.
Do you mean to tell me you grabbed a bunch of random scrubs and gave them powers, while also forcing them to hide their own identity?
What could possibly go wrong?
I hesitate bewteen Mystery men or kickass.
Kickass for the banhammer, and Mystery men for the show they gave us.

I've pm'd Josh for his thoughts. Suppose I'll have to attach the image (of a mirror) now, though.
As for "not the place," I - and a majority of the community, I'm sure - disagree. If you want some community respect, transparency's in order.
Maybe if ...certain people... didn't harass and insult ( over an extended period ) ...certain members... whose opinion you disagreed with, or attempted to belittle them over a minor grammatical error ( for an extended period also ), then perhaps ...certain people... wouldn't be hit with so many warning points and a perma-ban threat for being a disruptive and toxic influence on the community.
Smack-talk in-game all you like, that's all part of the fun and we can simply mute players if we don't want to see what they are typing.
If it makes you feel better, I got 3 warning points just for defending myself against the little gang of bullies- hopefully now that we have some real moderators on board, that kind kind of behaviour will stop, eh? :)
So we get the mods NOW of all the times. I don't really care if they are here or not as long as their primal oblectives are to damage control and stopping fuzzy bunny-posting before it gets out of hand. Also I think mods will only help mitigating issues when they occur and take some of that weight off the dev's shoulders.
A lot of people will (and already are) sceptical but I think those boys and girls will only help. Just don't try to silence somebody who has a valid opinion or avoid explaining your actions and everything will be alright. Cheers!

I simply cease to believe that something is OP just because it's OP.

Too late.
"DeeRax's got what you've always wanted."
I just hope that fair, proper, and sensible actions get handed out to genuinely offending forumgoers (and not those merely voicing their opinion), and that support tickets are fulfilled with appropriate, not-always-copy-and-pasted reponses and that issues are actually dealt with, not "accidentally closed due to a zendesk bug" or any other excuse that prevents a support ticket from being dealt with properly. Professionals work through mistakes and ensure that the task at hand is completed to the fullest of their ability. Customer satisfaction is key in customer support, I'm pretty sure.

For real guys?
I think it's clear by now that these forums are going to be run like a pre-school no matter what we do. Egging the mods on for cool points isn't productive.
Gee, when I saw "Mech Mods" as a thread title, I thought
"Oh boy! An alternative to our already completely fine internal/item customisation, for a second there I thought they were going to remove it completely!"
Oh dear, colour me dissapointed.

<snip>
Nice try, but you apparently chose to ignore every word I said; no where on the forum have I insulted or belittled anyone for petty reasons such as grammar or not agreeing with me on an issue-if we disagree, we disagree and move on, or try to find the root of our disagreement ( such as, scanners and scramblers being OP/useless- we did actually arrive at some kind of outcome on that issue, namely that scanners do need nerfing and scramblers need a buff ).
Certain other members however do throw around slurs and mean remarks on a near daily basis, or until recently when they were seemingly warned about their behaviour- think about that one why don't you. You will only get away with making snide remarks at people for so long- don't be surprised if they no longer bother trying to defend themselves, and just get the mods to throw the ban hammer at you instead.
The only time I've had to resort to unpleasant remarks is when they were aimed at the small gang of thugs who think they own the forum and were entitled to to use profanity towards me- they were mistaken so I gave as good as I got, and the the threads were cleaned. You know who you are- you can see them liking each others posts still...
Did they get new identities and had to give up their Christian names as well?
Yes, and yes!

wow. it took almost 6 months for the psychopathic Mods from the community to nearly empty the forums of the top-tier and most respected players in Hawken last time around.
less than 24 hours and you've made huge leaps of indiscretion. "Mech Mods"
you have just lost the respect and open-mindedness of the majority of the last bastion of fan-boys for the game, with virtually nothing more than an introduction thread and your reactions to its responses. this is astonishing--stultifying the one free positive propaganda machine in place, for this game.
APB folks said you'd lie, do little/nothing to develop the game, ignore support requests, and ultimately just suck the life out of the game to shave a profit and To Hell with the Community.
and i thought they were just a bunch of folks playing a suck game and that "Hawken would be Different".
shame on me.

In all fairness we were lead on for quite awhile about how and why Hawken would be different, which at the time did make sense. Of course we can now see that everything we were told before was either outright lies and nonsense or Josh speaking from a position that he'd have more control over the situation only to later on find out he'd have none.
So now not only do we have a Community Manager who doesn't play Hawken and is in no way part of the community but we've now got a team of Moderators who don't play Hawken and aren't part of the community. Match made in heaven I suppose.
Now we're at a point where people are being banned and slapped with a ridiculous amount of warning points for minor offenses because they dared to criticize the game and question Reloaded's actions. Never mind the fact that the community was lied to and strung along for over a year, never mind that Reloaded has done next to nothing to inspire confidence from the player base, never mind the actions of the Community Manager and the Moderation team being highly questionable. It's either all in line and play nice like nothing is wrong or face being banned for voicing concern and taking issue with how things are being done here.
The parallels between Howken and APB Reloaded are pretty striking at this point including poor performance, repackaging old content as something new, focusing more on micro-transactions with a stronger P2W progression system, lackluster support, and more.
It's truly sad to see the path that Hawken is going down and how things are turning out. It's sad to see that the vision we were original pitched by Josh was never what was actually what was going on. It's sad that personal opinions can now get you banned because it makes Reloaded look bad even though they've done that job on all their own.
I know others have expressed similar feelings in this thread and others but I feel it's worth repeating, even if Reloaded still doesn't get the message and most likely never will. Hawken deserved better than this and I'd like to think those of us who have stuck around, supported Hawken, offered feedback, worked together to setup in-game events, and more deserved better than this.
If there's one thing Reloaded has done successfully it's making me miss the days of Adhesive.

I don't know what you're talking about. I picked up the game a few weeks ago, and it certainly doesn't take years of playing it to be good. I feel like I play it competently enough.
