Hi guys.

Today Mech will be a little jokingly (but actually can be serious), and inspiried by �TheButtSatisfier� post from Melter-topic. Here:

 

I�m working like a Midas. I can touch any scrap, and it turn into a Hawken mech! So, yesh! I making a new Mech from this fuzzing robo-maid from �Jetson�s� :D

So, as I promise, let�s begin�

 

 

Challenger Lore:

Challenger - is the latter-day mech created by Sentium. It is created from old mining equipment that was previously used for the cavorite extraction. Now, these mines are empty, and Sentium decided to use powerful electric motors to create a new C-class machine. In addition to the standard engine, located in the torso, the Challenger has a powerful electric-engine (the cylindrical form), which allows it to reach walk speed up to 18 m/s. But speed is not the main quality of this mech.
The horsepower per ton is tripled, allowing the mech to haul weight, three times greater than his own. It is so powerful that if you want, this monster can pull a small building!

In addition, Sentium engineers have set to it a pulse weapon prototype, which allows the Challenger to feel confident in the urban environment. With the addition excellent armor, he is a very dangerous opponent.

Challenger Stats:

 

Armor: 780

Fuel tank: 108 l

Fuel regen: 8.6

Boost speed: 24.1 m/s

Walking speed: 18 m/s

Air speed: 26

Radar: 100 m

Overheat time: 4.75 sec.

 

 

Challenger Weapons:

 

Primary:

 

1) Default. HCD-Pistol � Full name of this weapon is �High Caliber Drum Pistol�, but it is too long, so pilots just called it �HCD�. HCD is a powerful self-loading weapon, which allow you cause serious damage to the enemy, and maintain a fairly accurate fire from the middle distance. There are also have a disadvantages. At the maximum rate of fire, HCD spread is greatly increased.

 

Damage: 34

Max. Firerate: 3.15 (than faster you press LMB, than higher weapon spread, similar to AM-SAR)

DPS: 107

Falloff start: 60 / Falloff End: 120

 

*nepacaka note�s: it is actually weapon, for people who love AM-SAR, but stronger, with higher spread, and working on shorter distance.
 

2) Alternative. Hawkins-RPR. Gain you higher accuracy, but less DPS.

 

3) Elite. EOC. ???  Profit!

 

Secondary:

 

Pulse Cannon � Weapons capable of producing a powerful �pulse� shot. Pulse is safe for humans, but is destructive for mechs. Pulse only works over short distances, and fades in the distance. Therefore, the best weapon is running at close distances. Pulse cannon have a two firing modes.

 

1) Collection � a wider cylindrical beam passes through any technique, and can hit a several mechs standing one behind the another. weapon also cause a �distortion� effect (only visual effect).

 

Damage: 90

Firerate: 0.44

DPS: 39.60

Falloff start: 55 / Falloff End: 110
Maximal weapon range: 110m

 

2) Dissipation � Holding down the fire button, you accumulate a powerful charge after 2 seconds. After that, the charge will be dispersed over a wide cone-shaped trajectory, this deal a very high damage to the target in front of you. If you do not shoot after 4 seconds, Pulce cannon shots automatically, because weapon can�t hold a charge so long.

 

Damage: 160

Maximal weapon range: 25m (~one dodge distance)

firerate: Slow

 

Nepacaka note�s: pulse cannon actually have a many drawbacks, i.e. short range, less DPS than other, and you can�t chargable it forever (like HEAT). But main feature (penetration through mechs) working in complex with challenger ability (see below)

Challenger Ability:

 

Attractor � Challenger can create a 4 energy-Lasso (from his struct-arm mechanism), and lassoed nearby enemies within 40 m. The ability working 8 sec. and can be canceled by pressing F button again. Challenger walking speed decrease on 1m/s for every captured enemy. (equal 14 m/s, if you keep 4 enemies in one moment). Captured enemies can move freely within the range of abilities, but they can�t overcome the limit of 40 m. If the Challenger is moving, he forcibly drag for a captured enemy. Cooldown abilities - 50 seconds.

Nepacaka note�s: So, Challenger main role � Initiator. it is prevent enemies to run away from you (or your team). Or can pull out one (or several mechs) to your team and then kill it. It is also can be good for used in a duel with his ability: two mechs in, one mech out.

 

 

Actually, this idea not new and obvious, but most of point like always � mech design! So, it is funny and epic!

once again, fantastic concept! 

 

to be honest, having the ability to pull pretty much the entire enemy team twords yourself looks pretty rad but maybe slightly op.

how about this:

the pull is stronger and you gain a lot of damage reduction, like a brawler, but your weapons become unavailable while you do so. this way, challenger would be an amazing disruptor. he would jump right in, pull everyone into one spot and let his teammates get all the kills. so far we have only got supports that give you stats: health and heat reduction. a utility based support would be a nice experiment, doncha think?

it's may be more op than my version :D
if you gain bonus armor/defence - it is guarantee that you pull someone from enemy team without any problems. in my version if you trying pull 4 people without help, you probably die cuz they easily focus on you. actually, stay alive agains 4 enemies almost impossible. probably if you pull them 2-3 second, than interrupt ability, trying survive/kill them.
here need the some tweaking between both variant, but i think it is impossible to do on paper.

but it will be nice if you can rush into enemy team, and then steal their tech :D
or pull out incinirator/brawler who stand in front of you, and and take him from the under the noses of tech, leave enemy team without "tank".
it can be a troll-mech a little xD

stoping runaway scout, or raider which use ability and trying runaway from you...beep! and raider can't escape. fight, or die!

I would put that ability on good use with my gren. No need dmg bonus.

 

But what if there is wall between me and victim? And i go opposite way? Hawken crash?

no, this enemy just free from you ability. your enemies should be in "line of sight", or energy lasso not working. so, you can use ability, but enemy can interrupt you ability too, if you use it incorrect. it have a pros and cons.

wait a moment, than catch someone and boost to your 5-assaults-friends. if enemy don't have a wall/corner and can't interrupt your ability...it is not your problem :D

There needs to be a mech that just fires a metric sh*t tonne of projectiles, like a barrage of sorts. That would be awesome...

 

But to be actually on topic, the lasso could work in a sense where it has to be pulled at a certain angle or more in order to break. like a 70 degree angle or more.

Basically, the 3d modeler guys get a drawing from a 2d drawing guy and they make it 3d as well as they can.  Be the drawing guy!  At least build yourself a portfolio (portfolio = collection of your best stuff) and get it out there, you're crazy talented.

Just as side note: .. weapon/item/ability to reduce maneuverability in enemy mechs would not be good idea; IMHO.

Basing this mech on Rosie is an EPIC sign of great creativity Nepa!  It takes real courage to take a silly 70's cartoon character and turn it into something ballsy and brilliant.

Have you ever thought of designing a mech that focuses on the most important part of this game....Flight? Perhaps a design around a bird or something like this?

Maybe some rocket pods as it's weapons? Hopefully the devs will use one of these ideas eventually. v_u_l_t_u_r_e_by_nahnahnivek-d8jtcge.jpg

Have you ever thought of designing a mech that focuses on the most important part of this game....Flight?

 

it is too "sharp" for hawken.
it should be more sloppy, and more military, not a sci-fi, in my opinion. well, you know, it should be feeling like a walking tank, not like a super-mech.
i more look in the way of "tank-girl" design. (obviously, i mean "the tank" design from this universe :D)

 

but actually, you can take everything around you, mix it, and make a hawken mech :3

I think that its "power level" is slightly "over 9000"

 

Reduce amount of enemies caught to 1.     And increase movement penalty to 3m/s....I also think that Challenger shouldn't be able to fly when ability is active.

 

And main thing :  Since "tractor beam emitters" are pointed forward...   When you catch someone your Challenger should automatically turn after that mech if they go behind you ...Making it unable to flank you.  

 

 

Alternatively: 

 

Keep it as it is...But Challenger should be able to lasso ONLY enemies withing 90degree cone in front of it.    If caught enemy moves behing you, Link should break.

 

 

 

 

TL;DR :   If all 4 enemies go in different directions....

So they should always be in front of you  when ability is active.  Consider this in your design.

 the lasso is cool but i think  a magnet thing fits better in to hawken
