Is the WAVE DASH possible on the PS4?

The PC maneuver is explained at 16:20 in the video

1. Are these real maneuvers, used by other players or are they something he's made up?

2. Ok i'm going to try to figure this out. It's based on the PC angle boost(10:15 in the video).
So I'll work on the angle boost first. The PC is Boost forward and hit (A) or (D) at the same time depending on which way you want to go. I'm guessing (A) or (D) is left or right. Is (A) or (D) turning or strafing? If it's strafing how do we strafe on the PS4?

3. I've watched videos on Boosting back  (3:36) how do we boost backwards on the PS4?

Oooook wow.

A and D are strafing.

Strafing on PS4 is handled by left stick.

To better aid you, I'll have to look up the video when I'm not on mobile because I'm pretty sure this is one of Hobbes' few less-than-helpful videos where he makes up a bunch of fuzz to make it seem more palatable to newcomers but ends up confusing people. There are easier ways to learn. There's a sidebar in the Reddit for basic movement.

But good on you for trying to improve!

These vids are based on PC movement as turning while dodging is possibly easier using mouse-look. That doesn't mean you can't do it with thumbsticks.

That said, i don't know if i ever angle-dodge? I dash towards, turn and side dodge and continue to turn. I just kinda do it.
I though a 'wave dash' was the way you boost, dodge, boost, dodge to get further and faster with less fuel usage. It doesn't help when the name is essentially made up.

Console maneuvers available easily on the controller

As above poster said, I also thought this was wave-dashing. Regardless, I originally was introduced to it as "skating" and kept that in my head.

Edit: For the record, moves like these will normally be performed correctly when you never have to remove your thumbs from your sticks. Otherwise you'll be sort of lacking in the efficiency of it all. I use a Scuf controller for this. Dodge and hover are on the paddles.

Videos are on Xbox but everything is the same for PS4 and relevant to the topic somehow. They were intended for the dashboard videos on Xbox. There are better videos available on YouTube by WolfyFtw called Mind Gamer or something of the like.

TurquoiseTortoise did a fairly succinct and clear summary of Hawken movement here. Start somewhere around video 5 unless you've never played the game before. Hobbes gets pretty verbose at times.

The only thing in Hawken that I can think of that might be comparable to what would normally be called a wave dash would be the maneuver by which a mech can rapidly climb walls by air-dodging into them.

Thanks for the links I'll definitely work on some of those.  I like how TurquoiseTortoise got right to the point.

Especially liked this one.

I was practicing boost jumping and turning 180 mid-air.

You can't boost backwards on the PS4
