It’s been an incredible journey since the introduction of Hawken on Steam, back in 2014. The game’s success has been largely due to your continuous support. The Hawken community has been the cornerstone of this ever-evolving franchise.

After 3 great years, we are shutting down the PC Steam servers to refocus our development efforts. The PC game will officially be removed on January 2, 2018, and all DLC and purchasable content will also be unavailable starting today.

It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience working alongside such a dedicated PC player base. Your feedback and support has been invaluable to us, and the team looks forward to creating more great games based on what we’ve learned from you.

The journey started in 2013 for me, in 2012 for the OG vets and as long ago as 2011 for some guys like Ashfire and RedVan when they first signed up on the original forums. Now, I'll go on a nostalgia trip and read some of the old forums. Sigh.

I just like the fact that we are still in the soft launch period. It didnt even have a proper re-release. For all what the game went through this is kinda an underwhelming end

Out of curiousity, I fired Disco up and lo and behold

So they betrayed us.
They threw s*** in our faces to get our hopes up and we bought it. After all the time and money put in, they swapped to consoles and left us for dead.
I had hope that this game would relaunch and become popular again after I found it a year ago.

So 505 Games pretty much maintained course on being a crap development studio and managed to make Hawken even worse in pretty much every way.

 

Now the game is coming to an end and we can't even play it properly thanks to 505 Games changing everything and refusing to actually listen to player feedback.

 

Hawken died long before this announcement. Shame it took this long for it to be official and after spending so much time getting strung along when there was never plans to do anything with Hawken beyond turning it into the garbage pile it became.

 

Guess my 400k+ MC will never get used.

Console won't be far behind, at its current rate. That's too bad. I still automatically think Hawken when I think competitive FPS.. I mean, the mechanics in this game would be brilliant if it were developed with quality. But now this. I wish I could've been there prior to the start of the molasses landslide of failure.

I had an emotional breakdown just now. The thing I'm going to miss most is the community itself , I have had faith that hawken will get out of its misery and not end it but i guess it went the otherway, damn.. how do you leave something like this , HAWKEN deserved better, it was just one of its kind i give you that. If only none of this happened in the past. I'm really going to miss Asia's Japan , they've been nice to us singaporean based players and we really had a great 4 year , i still can't let this fuzzy bunnyng go im going to miss you all so damn much

It's been a long time coming I guess. I just wish they left us with the 2012-2013 version of the game for the last 2-3 years. It was much more fun to play. I just felt we were slowly getting our limbs cut off without any anesthesia for the last 2 years or so.

Houruck actually still leads Critical Assist on our own discord server. Not much goes on but we're content with that and we often get together to play some Insurgency. It's all good fun. I actually talked to him a few days ago.

So sad!!! Well, cheers guys. HAWKEN will always be my favorite mech game I've ever played. Anybody remember the glory days with the original devs? What a blast it was when the wreckage update came. Ah good times.

 

So consoles are still able to play hawken? Weird. Why PC only?

 

Anyhew, what other games are you guys going to move on to? I'm moving to Star Citizen as my main game for the next decade.

I just read about this on facebook; I dare say the writing was on the wall since the Ascension patch, if not day 1- having a dev team with the attitude of 'we don't need to advertise, we'll rely on word of mouth and have a million active players by christmas' never bode well for the game. The new owners that refused to listen to the players and just desecrated the rotting corpse with unwanted changes... gah, such a waste.

 

RIP Hawken, you were so good in the early days, just a shame about the devs- eat poop and die Vanishingkaka...
