We know this as an intrinsic fact that for a free to play game to be successful you need hats.  (See:  War themed Hat Simulator 2)  So naturally if the new developers want Hawken to be a success they should implement a wide assortment of hats for mechs to wear.  Now I proposed this idea months before the old studio/publisher went bankrupt in an attempt to save Hawken and its dwindling player base but they refused to listen despite huge support from the community.
 
You guys are different, you want Hawken to succeed as well.  So what do you need?
 










 
Unfortunately I have lost the contribution from other forum members who had several hat ideas alongside my own.  But I think you can see from the few detailed concept mockups how and why to implement hats into your game.  Please take some time to consider your options and carefully adopt a model of hat acquisition that rivals that of the great FTP hat games of the past.

Maybe in a server that doesn't count towards kills, deaths, mmr, etc.

The idea is pretty hilarious.

 

Capes?  Maybe really long tails?

Flags. You could fly them from your mech or plant them in the ground like a taunt. Maybe custom template for your clan ect. Could be a way to capture part of the battle field like a turret.

 

Those things in the fight club arena that aren't portals, lets have those in maps too :)

While I get this is a joke, I wouldn't be opposed to some kind of decorative extra you could throw on your mech.

 

For example:

 

-sparking wires

-rockets on the feet (cosmetic)

-small flag (like those little ones people put on cars)

-googly eyes

-toolbox (like the one on Bucket's back in Evolve)

-neon tubing

Seriously, I hope the day comes when fan-made stuff can be offered for sale. The game playing community has some very talented artists. Not me, but there are other people. Although I did create Quake 3 skins of my coworkers back when we all played during our lunch breaks. That was a hoot. But I digress. Where was I?  Oh yes; when can I get the top hat?

I've wanted hats for like a year and a half now, so yes. I support anything that lets me make my mechs look even dumber.
