I'd go with the ocean floor scenario BUT Its like Rapture from Bio-Shock,an underwater city. That way,you can fight on the ocean floor without new mechs.

Oceans and seas and shores -> Mostly eye-candy as "backgrounds".

On the other hand, someone mentioned a canyon based map in here. Well.. you got the training mission map in which you can see certain chunks looking that way.

I have seen how expansive a Hawken map can be.
I would love to see one like the training map as a battle plan.
I just double the Training base and put in some objectives, etc... and we're gold!

Make it a new mod:

Call it Base Invasion.

I'd LOVE to see a game mode similar to the areal arena in Tribes: Ascend. Risk of falling, you say_ DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER_!_!

You I was thinking of something similar to how brink and lost planet 2 functioned as a play option. you know multiplayer with a story element. I know its a fairly new idea in the industry but I really think if its done right it can work. I love objective based matches and I love the story telling of single player mode. I cant be the only one that feels this way.

I love the BRINK idea. It's one of my favorite all time games. Too bad it got lost in the backwash of other games at the time.
{I really would want another set of maps or a sequel to BRINK.}

As for Hawken... YES! YES! YES!

Imagine playing the comic adventures of HAWKEN_
Participating in the battles described.
Maybe an available cinematic option before and after the match_

Make your Pilot in the garage_ So you can see your character in the cinematics_ Ground school cinematics {like you in class}_
BRINK did that well. I would love to see a progressive like that for HAWKEN!

Oh my G-D!
Give it to me baby!
Give it to me now!

I think this could be a huge step to bringing Hawken to the mainstream. I mean that would be a massive addition to the game. Really wished I was on my way to getting my bachelors in game art and design. I have my A.A.S. in Visual Communications, being in Atlanta its difficult to get into the industry, but I hope getting these betas under my belt help.

Maps that change static configurations for the duration of 1 match;
Map pieces {Mountains, buildings, etc} randomly repositioned at the beginning of a match.

Technically you will be playing the same map but each time time the server resets after a match the layout changes.
This would keep the same maps from becoming boring as the landscape is always changing.

You are constantly challenged to find new sniping spots.
The same "piece" is in a different spot the following match and now might not be a good sniping spot for this layout.

Routes to objectives would change.
The match would never be repeated.
No side would have a true terrain "advantage" as it would be different each match.

Ditto that.

For anamorphic maps, I'd go with jumbling the map every week or two. Military operations are painstakingly planned based on satmaps and prior intel, right_ It'd be enough to keep most people from getting bored of the maps while also satisfying an interesting niche.

The problem with "Military operations ... planned based on satmaps and prior intel", Is that they can be wrong and Field Improvisations must be made on the fly.
Hawken doesn't have a "WAR room" for team planning and chat to discuss the types of strategy you've mentioned.
I think it's better served as think on the fly.
With competent teams the battles will be fast and furious.
This idea is only an addendum variant to the maps we have and future maps to come.

My new map suggestion would be... Anything_

Quote

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

Sure it does. It's called Teamspeak, Ventrillo, Mumble. And frankly it's more similar to a game of football, except rather than always planning for a flat rectangle of a field the playmasters have to plan for dynamic terrain.

We have to "assume" that not all players do not have a 3rd party Voicechat and are using the Hawken one exclusively.

I did not played it enough to see/feel any flaws, for now it feels very very cool to play.
However i would suggest it to be "decorated/themed" with something different than what we already have now (desert/urban)
instead a artic/snowy layout would be very refreshing example inspiration :

Winter Setting by Dominus

Also some map feedback like snowstorms wich temporary affect open ground visibility, slipping iced puddle, would be over the top !
