No fix for explosive munitions for explosive primaries.  Maybe it will be a ninja change.

Also looks like traded most "slightlies" and "greatlies" for percentages, still be nice to see the before and after numbers on the changes.

Still excited tho.  I'm about 2 good matches from 25 on my inf.  Hopefully I'll get some practice in with the pre patch EOC before they make it better.  :)

I really like the sound of the nemesis system. I think this will really help out new players with low lvl mechs fighting the veterans.

The increased feathering will be cool for those close range situations where you're afraid of suicidal damage from your heat/tow.

First Impressions:

  • TDM kill limit will limit the painfulness of stomps. Great change.
  • Text box - to - resolution fix WOOOO
  • Very much appreciate the decision to make available an unfinished map.
  • Server browser sounds​ literally perfect, incorporates all the good ideas floating on the forums recently.
  • Renaming MM into 'quickmatch' is a nice touch, more in touch with current naming conventions.
  • Strongly approve of 'custom games', basically a kind of Public Test Realm (PTR). Hoping to see all kinds of things pop up here in the future, including proposed weapon tweaks and any radical changes to how certain things work (EMP_ Turret mode_)
  • Speaking of which, the Turret mode change should ve very interesting, particularly with the Grenadier and Bruiser. The Rocketeer turret-perk is still rather pointless.
  • Finally a suicide fix. In an unrelated note, I'm expecting my win rate to drop below 72 for the first time in a long time :P .

First Thoughts on Weapon Balance:

  • Pretty much every good idea on the forums in the last month. So much HAPPY.
  • Awesome EOC love. Very excited.
  • Hellfire tracking buff might be abuse-able at medium-long range to slam the tracking missiles into objects. Will have to see if they 'over compensate' on the track, or if they simply glue to their targets stronger (extreme curls are now possible_).

    [Also if any Devs are reading, I'd like to point them in the general direction of this post.]
  • TOW splash nerf values may not be enough for a proportional change, making it relatively stronger relative to all weapons, and relatively closer to the HEAT (since HEAT nerf is comparatively more heavy). This is understandable given the concept of the weapon.

    Given the ease-of-use, perhaps a slightly higher damage nerf would have been prudent just for the TOW. Will be paying careful attention to how the TOW handles relative to all the new explosive weapons.

    [Since the TOW is arguably the most 'core' secondary, changes should understandably be incremental and on the conservative side.]
  • Seeker changes do not include a damage nerf, thus relatively buffing it while still following the trend of nerfing the splashes of explosive weapons. Good change imo considering how underused the weapon is (read: not used).
  • GL received relatively soft-handed nerfs, and thus are relatively buffed(no damage nerf = relative buff, only slight splash nerf = slight relative buff). Justified change.
Finally, can I just say how impressed I am with these changes. Everything is suddenly heading in the right direction again, and despite all the drama recently, its still important to keep in mind it has so far been only 3 months since OB release. Considering the state of the game on launch, and consequently, the amount of work on [HWK]'s plates, the responsiveness of this change is staggering. Very well done!

It promises to be fun, weapon modifications will force players to aim and not for manual detonation because they miss by a mile.

Increased precision in aiming in the game, I am for.

yeaaa, fighting 5v5 in the area AA or silo , jumps 1 to 8 lines of text in the middle of the screen, is essential. When it is a scoreboard after the game for such  stats p.o.r.n..

Yea... because the point of explosive damage is obviously landing perfectly direct shots.

That's obviously why they have aoe damage in the first place.

(old man voice) STAY a while and listen. Back in my day, ss was a difficult class to play, and you got credit for being a credit to the team while also having a pretty big skill cap. Now it's easy, everyone uses it. It didn't need changing in the slightest, and I feel these nerfs are not going to add to the gameplay constructively. Let us go back to the days of few ss, and good ss. Let us go back to the days of when the grenadier was good, and the rev-gl actually did something. The rev-gl was fine before this patch. They already forced the Grenadier into a support position, this will make it almost non viable. That last bit was from my friend sicarius, however I also agree with him.

Typically aoe weapons don't allow remote detonation.  In other words, aoe weapons typically require their users to exchange projectile speed for area of effect; they demand prediction and lead times.  Hawken had been subverting that balance with massive splash radii (with barely-decreased damage along the peripheries) and easy-aim, remote detonation.
