Why's everyone arguing about a silly forum badge, when they could be making their mechs look like this (for 35 MC!)?

Goddamn it... now I want to refund my Reentry thrusters for full MC to get those camos.

Since this is somewhat of a moral event... can I do that? I actually don't want the Reentry thrusters anymore, I find some of the cheaper 108 MC thrusters to look better.

Speaking of the camos, is rbw-cross fixed yet, or is the blue and purple still too dark? I'd buy it if it was.

EDIT: Gabbahead, I should point out that capnjosh and tiggs appearantly log in as anonymous users (like i usually do), so their won't show up, so it might not be Ashfire.

If you don't want the badge we'll make sure it is not visible for your account. Many of you need to take a step back, while this is a controversial subject, there is no need to bash or troll others. The thread will not be locked and instead I will action those that feel the need to attack others.

Genetics is a very interesting science. Did you know that there are two clusters of genes that make someone g a y.

It has nothing to do with politics, nothing to do with religion and nothing to do with choice.

People are born the way they are.

That's it!

The sooner certain groups of people realize that, the more peace there will be.

That's not entirely true. There will be a time in the future when there is no more hate or war or crime for that matter. It won't be any time soon, but it will happen. It is inevitable.

I am incredibly disappointed with people in this thread.

The equation of the of human rights with politics is a tactic of an oligopolistic media state designed to divide populations and you have bought into that hard.

This had nothing to do with politics until you made it so. This was a celebration of love. Requests to remove the badges could have been made quietly without raining on people's parade as Tiggs has proven to be very amenable to polite, respectful requests.

This has been anything but.

Shame on you.

While I'm inclined to agree with its celebratory nature, the introduction of permanent forum badges based on political opinion - which it is - is a sort of violation of people's right not to take a stance. While one could certainly request the badge be removed, this almost guarantees that someone down the road will label them a "homophobe" of some sort, which is no bueno.

It's a binary decision, either have the badge or don't, but the levels of support, agreement, and position that people share are not by any means binary, just like the issue at hand - despite this, as demonstrated, public opinion is often binary, and so making a binary choice puts you in the binary group that the public perceives, even if you don't fall into it.

Tickle... For someone who supposedly has championed the cause of lgbt community you really just don't get it. Human rights isn't a political issue; don't frame it as such. They are giving out a forum badge, you don't need to use. It's really that easy of an issue.

I would hope that the userbase here isn't using it often enough as an insult to justify it being censored. Imo it being on the list of banned words gives off the impression that homosexuality is taboo and shouldn't be discussed here and reinforces the idea that "g a y" is a slur and not a normal and useful descriptor.

While we're at can we get rid of the worthless wordfilter entirely?

Couldn't you instead implement an auto-report function that reports posts that contain words that might hurt others' "feelings" and then take actions against repeat offenders? I think that would be better rather than falsifying messages!

Also, why do you think deleting messages is a good idea, instead of, for example, adding to the bottom of the offending post something like "MOD EDIT: User was warned/banned/etc. for this post". Deleting spam is fine by me, though.

"Moral highground" does not exist. Morals are just opinions. I cannot see how one set of morals can be inherently better than the other. Do you think your morals are inherently better because theyre YOUR morals? I don't understand you other humans.

And how are "humans rights" not a political issue? "Rights" is just a shorthand term for "privileges granted by those more powerful/influential than you".

We've tried the editing messages route and it was seen as public humiliation, so posts are hidden instead.

you're message exhibited a stereotypical behavior, albeit a different one than what you accused those who you disagreed with your stance of. I just found it ironic, projecting may have been the wrong word.

False. If people don't care, they won't care about the positions other's think they hold.

This is the same sort of binary thinking again though. Just because people don't care what decisions other people make doesn't mean they don't care about what they think.

You can't exactly impose your own line of thinking on other people's emotions.

Tickle... For someone who supposedly has championed the cause of lgbt community you really just don't get it. Human rights isn't a political issue; don't frame it as such. They are giving out a forum badge, you don't need to use. It's really that easy of an issue.

Ok, lets play with your rules. These supposed "human rights" grant freedom of expression, correct? The introduction of a binary choice inherently means yes or no, and public percepetion, as you've so kindly demonstrated, interprets that as for or against.

As hellzilla has been kind enough to demonstrate, there's at least one other option out there that isn't being expressed, thus these two options are being prioritized over minority opinions, and in effect, the holders of those opinions are having their own right to expression squished at least a little bit.

At the end of the day, Reloaded owns the forums, and they can do as they please. I just think it's unhealthy to publicly group players as supporting "human rights" (hell of a loaded term there) or being against them. If someone wants to say they neither support it or are against it, that's their choice to do so.

Well i think, it would be more like "pointing out an error (in following the forum rules)" rather than "public humiliation". But too many other's disagree, appearently?

Negative people have a problem for every solution.

You don't have to show the badge. That's it.

There's no 'good' reason to post that you 'don't want the badge' (a badge symbolizing the freedom of others to have the option to be married and be happy w/ a person they love) other than disguised homophobia.

Next time, just don't post. The badge you don't need to display will NOT hurt you.

Letting the federal government dictate to the states is always a horrible precedence to set . The community was used as pawns in a bigger political issue.

I am all for love and human rights. I am glad everyone is so happy.  But the game shouldn't take such a political stand publicly. It's bad business.
