Throwing this out there.

When mechs E X P L O D E (both friendly and enemy)... what about giving off splash damage?

Perhaps the damage would scale depending on the SIZE of the mech (with incinerators doing the MOST damage, due to them being... well... GIANT fuzzy bunnyNG FURNACES).

What do you think, dear reader?

May your eyes stay on your radars and your enemies get stuck on whatever it is that we get stuck on,

bt

it is like a "suicide internal" which we have early (die, deal 150dmg). i think no.
+ mech like brawler, scout, raider, always a take damage when kill someone, and mech without shotguns - not. not fair.

Any tiny death incentive isn't a great thing.

Good points. had not thought about 'suicide' mechs.

Not good. Agreed!

What about an in-game 'afk' option?

Stahp the nono waggon. Why not. Explosions that dont deal damage arent explosions. It would need further skill to get away from your enemies remains. Maybe a one second delay. Enemy explodes...2..1...<DODGES> Splosion avoided. I dont think that it is/was such a bad idea.

If you somehow don't think incentivising death is bad, then just imagine all of the doors this opens for trolls.

Rewarding a player for pretty much doing nothing but dying is not a good thing to have in a competitive game.

There's already much better, and far more rewarding ways of causing damage to enemy mechs after death: grenades/TOWs/etc. launched after death that kill an enemy, mine traps that explode as soon as you die, and so on. Besides, we already have a suicide mech ability: Incin's power fart.

Anti Repair Orbs would be way more funny.

Now we're talking. Make it absorb the same way as health orbs, give a small visual indicator (maybe different colored orb), make the total amount of damage less than a normal orb heals, and (obviously) require an internal for this ability (probably 3-slot, maybe 2). Orblord internals still "buff" rate of extraction and total damage dealt if you sit on this thing.

okay, but if theyre a different color they should be just slightly so, like the difference between the Mario normal and poison mushroom.

What about fake health orbs, that "paralyze" all enemies in close vicinty 4 their (short) time of duration? Try 2 imagine the face of an typical orblord jumping on2 such a fake orb, where he finds out, he don't gets healed but is instead forced 2 stay there as sitting duck, while hearing the KRAA-CHINK of a Breacher nearby... hehehehe... Would work well as instant buffer stop 4 pesky pursuers, too... And it wouldn't be redundant 2 any other item... Sounds like ton of fun 2 me... Opinions?

Regards, BL4CK_W1D0W.

Ho - stop! What if... ...the healing orbs would EXPLODE and do damage, if TOUCHED? They still could b used 4 healing by staying NEAR them, but if u run OVER them, or SHOOT them... ...well... KA-BOOOM !!! THAT would be interesting 2 test 4 a week... Yay!

And - if it turns out 2 break the whole gameplay totally, it just could b reverted easily. I can imagine such a change could give the game a ton of new tactical potentialities. Maybe worth a try? Just 4 a week? Or at least a weekend? Pls?

CpnJosh? Read that? ...

*stuff about paralyzing exploding orbs*

That sounds like a really, really bad idea. Anything that restricts movement is a huge irritant in this game (having flashbacks of the stun lock problem from way back), and making them explode would also be highly annoying. If you're already in a Pred, just put your mines where the orbs are. It might be fun for the player using these items against someone else, but you have to think about how it would feel to have these used on you as well, and even more so if these were used against you repeatedly.

Mech explosion should give radius damage. Seems reasonable, it just did close after all.
