first of all, what is the definition of high tier match? a game with average mmr 2000?

main question: if i play rocketeer cooperatively with team in TDM/MA/Seige, how much impact I can help my team winning the match? do they consider good choice in competitive match?

why im asking?

- i take a role as fire support which i think helpful enough assisting the front line from back

- did not get kill but mostly just assist

- i find my self start getting useless in 1850 match and our team easily get caught in a stale (both side unable to advance thus nobody getting killed, happen mostly at choke point)

any top player can give advice? help please

MMR varies per region, so no region has the same MMR definition for a "high tier" match.

Here in EU I'd say a high-tier match would be atleast 2400 average at the bare minimum.

However, there are players who's skill is much higher than their MMR, and the opposite as well.

Rocketeer is generally pretty useless against any high-tier player.

The mech's generally pretty useless in high-tier matches as well.

US, 2200+ Somebody's guaranteed to be in an alt with lower-than-true MMR.

Agree with each statement.

Ok, three things:

  1. If you need to ask this question, you're not at a point where you need to be worrying about it.
  2. There's no such thing as fire-support in an arcade shooter or whatever the hell we're calling Hawken these days. If you're keeping people's heads down you can be doing a better job by actually doing damage to them.
  3. I have answered this question, in detail, here.

If you want to play Rocketeer, play SA Hawkins Brawler. It's got better long range DPS, armor, turret mode.

Even the rockets are better.

Low pop means there is no high tier games, there's enough topics with how MMR is typically skewed by the matchmaker/smurfes.

Once Hellfires were high-skill weapons and bended around corners. They were truly unique and fun to use. Then circle-jerking teen-nerds were enslaved by a near bankrupt studio to QAtest an update and this game went to hell. Now Hawken is about playing Assault in an endless TDM with the same few people.

If you want a bit more than oneliners trying to be funny ask DawnOfAsh or Anischkov.

If you want to be effective with bruiser, play assault.

Hellfires suck is what we're saying.

I've managed to kill enough high-tier people to know that this is not COMPLETELY true.

But yes, they're underpowered currently in high-tier games, and overpowered in low-tier games.

as i met stronger people, some of them really can evade this missile

that is why kept me thinking how well i can perform using rocketeer/bruiser in a long run

i still use for fun or 200ms ping thou

Its pretty useless against high mmr players,but..i love playing mine from time to time with Heat Cannon, especially when the other players dont expect that cannon..its pretty hard though..but i enjoy playing mine.Rocketeer was killer before but got nerfed..but you can still annoy people

p.s. in eu we got few players maining rocketeer, its hard to deel with em if you dont get to close, but again this fatty can fly..Dont get me wrong, its an easy to use mech(with seeker only ofc) but its challenging in high mmr games, and it was one of my favourite since january 2013(the other one was zerker, yet no ac back then)..

Bruiser can be mildly effective in the right hands, on the right maps, under the right circumstances. Which is to say, it isn't COMPLETELY useless, and Hellfires do have some limited uses IF you have a decent primary to back them up (Assault Rifle). Bruiser's ability is also good if used correctly AND frequently.

Hellfires are not remotely useful with any of the primaries the Rocketeer has to offer, and the Rocketeer's ability is probably the worst in the game.

up close an untracked hellfire barrage can make a mech critical and constant missiles from seeker usualy deters people from comming forward searching out easier enemies

it turned the tides on bunker many a time when the enemy is a deathball, they will quickly snipe out a ss but rocket spam slows em down and no funner than hellfires onto a critical enemy a mile away, ofc you or any other player that tries can counter it but i think its a good option in the garage
