hey all need a little help here, used to play hawken quite a lot and have near 400 hours on my account.

sadly my old rig self imploded taking out 80% hardware and im now stuck using a older machine and performance is piss poor, with everything on low i do get anywhere from 15-60 frames with massive spikes

specs of machine are as follows

Core2 Duo e4400 2.0ghz overclocked to 2.75ghz

2x64GB sandisk ssd's

4GB ram

gtx750 1gb

so even at that im above the minimum specs needed, anyone any ideas? would love to get back into this

RAM.  It's the least expensive thing you could do and gain the most from.  Granted, the GPU is a little dated, but it's not bad...just could use some help with more memory.

I was able to get frame rates in the mid 30s on an old pentium chip (socket 775 and DDR2 I think) and a gtx 460 by using plastic hawken. I had similar success on a Lenovo laptop from around 2012.

Unfortunately you may be as much gated by your CPU as the GPU, so running potato graphics may not help, but it is worth a shot.

I run Hawken on 'soft' settings, which is below 'low' settings.
- see nepacaka's thread: https://community.pl...e-optimization/

My specs are somewhat similar to yours, and I get a solid 60 FPS, even on a map like Last Eco. I also have great cooling, and my CPU temperature maxes out at 55 degrees on full load. I also run dual monitors @ 1600x900 - one for Hawken, and one for Teamspeak + other stuff. Try to optimize your PC to only have important programs open, but that should be obvious.

My specs:
Core2 Duo E8400 (3.0Ghz)

64GB SSD (OS) + 1TB HDD

8GB DDR3 RAM

GTX 650 1GB

If you double your RAM and replace your processor, it will do just fine. You can get Core 2 duos on eBay for dirt cheap.

Your video card is actually better than mine so it should be okay. You also should try to turn up the fan speeds in your case via PWM software, or a fan speed controller.
