Py ro-burn thruster: Part of the vanguard initiative package, not alpha, and not going to be re-released.  Josh and Tiggs have both stated that they are not going to do it.

 

NVidia thruster: Wasn't ever released. People were asking about it when it was first discovered in the game files back in early open beta. Others complained that it 'wasn't fair' to release something tied to a specific brand of hardware, or those who just happened to buy a new NV card and would have waited if they had known that it was going to be tied to buying it.  Don't know if that had any bearing on it's release status or not.

 

Boo Drone: Was a Halloween seasonal rental initially, then made part of a bundle.

 

Originally we were told that Kang didn't want it to be available outside of Halloween as it didn't fit the ascetic of Hawken.  The running joke when it was made available for sale as a non-rental was 'I wonder how much booze they had to give him to get him to agree to it?'

 

It was the reason why I bought the bundle. :)

 

Winter drone/thrusters, Chinese new year camos/thrusters: Seasonal items for the Chinese new year, winter drone and thrusters were HC rentals only.

 

I don't know how Reloaded feels about the seasonal items, but I can't see boo being available for sale again, either via MC or part of some kind of package, as a bad thing.  Myself, I'd gladly buy the winter drone and thrusters if they were not rentals.

Since you can load the winter eco map and kill the yeti to get the jingle drones anytime now, they should make the rest of the seasonal stuff available too.

yes, in the last ww, we killed Marvin and I won the jingle drones. I think the thrusters should come as this also

Initiate stuff should stay exclusive, rest will be released for sure, not like the devs know there's stuff people will buy and thus make them money but they be like, nah, lets just leave it.

 

I expect quite a few of those cosmetics to be released with the very first patch they release, whenever that will be.

Hmmm.... They should cook up a red AMD one and make the corresponding correct thruster available to you depending on your GPU driver.

They made a Nvidia one because they developed the game with Nvidia GPUs, hence the Nvidia splash screen when you start the game.

In the early days of ADH developing the game, they asked Nvidia and AMD for help on various parts of optimization and such.

 

Nvidia was helpful.  AMD, not so much.  It really didn't have anything to do with the GPU that was in their dev machines, and I highly doubt that any game studio would not have dev machines with GPU's from both companies for coding and testing purposes.

 

So, it makes sense to me that the company that was actually helpful would be the one that has a logo placed in the start of the game.  If AMD was actually, you know, helpful at the time, I'm fairly confident that there would be a Radeon logo somewhere as well.

I thought it had to do with Hawken using PhysX, which is why Nvidia was promoting Hawken by including codes with video cards?

Nvidia's 'The way it's meant to be played' logo is in a lot of games while i've never seen any AMD variant anywhere. I guess Nvidia is just more devoted in promoting themselves like this and that's why it's even in Hawken.

Considering that ADH themselves stated this, I'd say it's true.

Elaborate?  There are many games that have the NV 'the way it was meant to be played' and the companies are still around?

None of this really matters now, but since you asked, I'll clarify.

What I said has nothing to do with Nvidia specifically, but with how a company should do business.

What I meant: I hope that no company decides to promote another company's product if there's no tangible return.

It's in Nvidia's best interest to help developers optimize their games for a Nvidia product. If that was the primary reason why ADH decided to promote Nvidia, then I think that gives some insight to how ADH operated as a business.

However, I know that's not all there's to the story. From what I can tell, their partnership with Nvidia was fruitful for both parties with cross promotion, PhysX, or what have you.

Hell, I bought a Nvidia card to see PhysX in Hawken back then. Now my PC is a full AMD machine, go figure.

99% sure that's a bug then, unless I'm massively misremembering it, but it wasn't a perm item, just a rental and should have gone away when the winter event was over.

Nope. Vanguard Initiative only. Alpha/Beta testers who didn't buy the Vanguard package only got the alpha/beta skin.

I own alpha / beta textures but not the PY-R0 BURN thruster.

I was convinced that it was part of the vangard initiative offer.

I'm a closed beta tester, and I don't have it, so at the very least your beta inclusion is wrong. Other alpha testers will need to comment to confirm one way or the other.

as i remember correct, all players from russian community have this thrusters since some monts after closed-beta 3 ends. and we all waiting our camo. so, ADH give us free py-ro just like a reward for several months of waiting.

Nope, not the jinglebell drone. There was a winter rental-only drone that was a snowman head that threw snowballs at the mech when repairing.

I certainly didn't think you were a liar, but perhaps mistaken.

But per your pictures, I can only guess that it was a one-off thing that ADH didn't really mention outside of a few players as that thruster was only available by the vanguard initiative, or apparently them specifically giving it to players.

I certainly do not remember them offering it to anyone outside of VI purchasers.

i asking some alpha/beta testers which i know. they all tell me that they don't have this engine. and this is not a gift from ADH.

so, i actually don't know how Vanguard initiative working, but maybe it was real bring to me with bonus-code on 2880MC which eth0 present me.

in game MC 20$ if 1$=144MC, 20*144=2880MC

 

maybe, this is the reason why i have Cupcake thrusters and Unique Bronze camo?
