So yesterday https://gaming.youtube.com/went live, and I wanna hear some opinions. Good? Bad? Twitch is better? Google all the way? Does HAWKEN have a place on it?

 

At any rate, I'll be trying to set up a stream on there in a bit (say, an hour or so) and see how it works.

Here's how I look at it:

 

 

When I watch youtube streams, freezing and lag is nowhere to be found.

 

 

When I watch twitch streams it'll freeze every 5 seconds and I'll have to fuzzy bunnyng restart and fuzzy bunny and a lot of crap basically. Seldom do I find a stream that doesn't freeze.

Youtube streaming is better but the chat is terrible. No good Mod tools and easy to spam

 

It'll probably have everything wrinkled out in about a month.

 

IMO it will better than Twitch but right now it's not

There are many people out there watching somebody playing football, baseball, soccer, ice hockey, etc... I cannot imagine all of them haven't got a life.

UI is ugly as hell. Buffering is a ton better than on small Twitch streams. Btw for people having issues watching small channels on Twitch (the big channels are not bandwith-restricted like the small ones) try the program called Tardsplaya.

 

Yes, I just wanted an excuse to say "tardsplaya". But it does work.

The google company scares me. It scary how more and more dominance they got in various things. I wont support another thing that they might get on their own (much bigger resources- they will get better than twich, so everyone will use it so they will have another monopol)

I would be willing to test out this streaming with you. I don't usually stream, but I would make an exception in this case. I am trying to record all my matches on youtube anyways, so it would make sense.

I've been streaming to YT just fine lately, though I still get copyright emails for supposedly free copyleft radio stations and their music.

If youtube's view counts are worth their salt, I've been getting 5~10 views per stream.

Have you guys confirmed if you can watch Youtube live streams in the Steam Browser?  The fact that Twitch wouldn't play in that really threw a wrench in the live streaming schemes.
