Don't feel like ranking the other NA SS players in my top 10 atm, but off the top of my head I'd pick Rei, hestoned, NepR, that shz guy, and you in addition to the ones I already listed.
your missing out on Draigun lol in terms of SS and HeBBS

This thread isn't a circlejerk. It's not just a bunch of self serving bs as I've seen suggested. Personally, I've found the thread to be pretty insightful.
This thread gives a glimpse at what the top players in the game think. At the higher echelons of play some of the differences in skill are pretty minute, and I thought it was interesting to see opinions on what gives a pilot that little edge over the competition. These are also good skill metrics for anyone who wants improvement to compare themselves to.
The list from any high-MMR player in TPG is going to skew heavily toward people in Omni to the exclusion of almost everyone else because of that team's dominance in the league. If the thread would've asked for the top 10 in each mech instead of the top 5 I think there would've been far more diversity.
your all pretty fn awesome and i dont like making people feel like I hold anyone in higher regard than some one else... unless of cause they are one of those hacks/pubstars or just a tosser in general...
I felt kinda bad for saying it was a circle of reach arounds so i played along but as i said... the more i think on it the more i regret it...
Some things I'd like to cover:
- These "best of" lists are generated through personal experience and perception; they vary according to factors like skill, region, mech preferences, and personal biases. And that's perfectly fine. Although I'd argue that listings from high-tier players will be more accurate, nobody's insulting anybody's choices. As crockrocket said, it's interesting reading the various perspectives.
- Excluding someone isn't tantamount to insulting them. Jeff explained that thought more thoroughly: amongst the upper echelons, we've very strong players with substantial experience across multiple mechs.
- Any honest list of mine was bound to appear arrogant and "circlejerky". However, I'd rather risk ruffling feathers and express my opinion than withhold it for fear of offense. Omni's members were recruited and trained purposefully. Our strategies revolved entirely around superior dm'ing and small-group coordination. If we hadn't possessed almost across-the-board dm'ing advantages against our opponents, we would've performed poorly. It's not surprising, then, that after taking every TPG season, our players constitute the bulk of my list. That sounds super jerkwad, but it's the truth.
- We respect our opponents - the people and friends we played against for years - and recognize their ability. I left plenty of strong players off my list because I approached the task as I would team construction: very selectively. Think I will post another list, though - stripped of the players I've already mentioned. There are many people we noticed throughout our time in Hawken.

Wtf is up with the accuracy? And why is mine soo.....clean, compared to the others? Everybody else is multi numbered and mine is 3 digits. *Nevermind, mine is weird too* Flifang is only 2 digits.
Accuracy for some newer mechs and weapons are buggy. Most of my mechs, including about 5 of my G2 raiders; were bought over a year ago. The T32 is especially buggy with accuracy but a few of my mechs don't have any accuracy rating on it. The field just isn't in the mech stats in-game.
Also my accuracy overall with the G2's weapons are very bad. I make up for it with occasional spikes in my proficiency, and pure experience in the thing.
The majority of the other mechs I play I perform much better in them, despite not playing them nearly as much as the G2. A few of my old mechs such as my Bruiser, Chippy; had their stats wiped at some point during the last silence and I never bothered to put in a ticket.
I'm bad with hitscan but I think I do reasonably well with projectiles.

I'm saying it's at least possible to attempt to construct lists here based on objective skill instead of how you feel about the players as people. The other thread was essentially a popularity contest. I think Grass is good at Zerker too, but I'm almost certain they would agree that they're worse at it than Dave, Xacius, Stone, cond0m, and myself if you were to ask. That alone puts them out of contention for a top five spot on mine. Not including someone doesn't mean I think they're terrible at the game or dislike them.

Excuse me. Could you please repeat that?
I believe Jeff told me directly that this thead was dissimilar from Merl's, even though they each use opinion as a source.
How are we forming the basis of our posts? Is it not opinions?
I'd also like to state that Grass is not just a good Berzerker pilot, but a great one. Furthermore, I'd like to apologize to him for not adding him to my previously submitted list.
I believe you misunderstand. Jeff said that both Merl's thread and this one are based on opinion, but since our thread is based on skill (which is more quantifiable), ours may be more objective.

So you were jealous that people have played G2 Raider longer than you? or are you jealous that there are players who are better than you but have been playing less/for a shorter amount of time?

Yes, and until I can rekt them at least once; yes again. Once I've dragged someone through the dirt thoroughly at least once I don't really feel bad about them out-performing me most of the time. It's because I KNOW I have the potential, I'm just held back by bad habits and a loss for how precisely to improve upon my play.

well I got bored and decided to make a list, based on comp experience and general pubs
I'll try to make it varied so people's feelings aren't hurt and everyone goes home happy
A Classes
Berserker -
IAreDave: strong zerker because omni, what else, remember him from TPG
GGanjaman: he was good I guess
ButtSatisfier: also good I guess
kirkgonewild: he played zerk in comp
(in general, I find that zerkers I can generally deal with if my aim is on point so there's not much to say if I'm losing to one, it must be on my end. few zerkers sticks out in my mind because I find most of the Zerker pubbies are incredibly yolodive-y)
Technician -
FuryMonster: oldie but a goodie
TunsofFun: remember him in a tech for some reason
(not to say Techs r bad but it's easy to be a top scorer as a Technician and hide your true skill, so not many pubbies stick out because well it's a pub and tech is tech)
Scout -
hestoned: obvious reasons are obvious
IAreDave: obvious reasons are obvious
ClusterBombMan: literally Hawken child prodigy, movement is really amazing, great footwork with his mechs
Merl61 - He's a good scout player. Ping holds him back but what he does with his ping is admirable at least. Movement gets predictable the longer an engagement lasts against him.
jeffmagnum - obvious reasons are obvious
cond0m - obvious reasons are obvious
(there are a lot of pubbie scouts that do well but again, there isn't a reason I shouldn't be doing well against them unless I'm just doing bad and need practice. I know they're manageable if I lock in, but these players above always give me trouble)
Reaper -
Rei - oldie but he was a superbly sharp sniper
Devotion - made his fame on Reaper to my knowledge
jeffmagnum - reasons aim
craftydus gets an honorable mention because he'll throw a fit on IRC if I don't
(I like this mech a lot, don't see it too much in pubs)
Infiltrator -
TJ - always struck me as a very intelligent Infil player. Plays from the middle of the Pacific if I'm not mistaken so what he does with his ping is admirable.
alexaxle - strong AR Infil, would love to see him in something else than an AR Infil
Imaginary Friend - a one mech wonder in Infil but outside of it, not that fantastic imo but in an Infil he does good enough to ring a bell in my head
IAreDave - good Infil. Obvious reasons are obvious
B Classes
Assault - lol
Xacius - obv reasons are obv
xiphos - reasons
darktim300 - I have never seen so many hackusations against a player as darktim, sooo many
x9x8x7x - highly underrated player, don't know why more people haven't mentioned him around. Just a good player.
bkcat - strong HWK player
jeffmagnum - obv reasons
(very easy to do well in Assault, these players are just strong in this, good aim, good TOW stuff, good good)
Bruiser -
Balweo: I met him once, was amazingly on point with Bruiser, shame he's in Japan
PlagueDoctor: good Bruiser, met a few times, good Bruiser
PeacecraftSLD - very strong bruiser player in comp, love the way he plays it, he makes it work
(not enough people play this mech. I think it's underrated, it is indeed weaker than the other obvious choices because of Hellfires, but a killer ability, strong ability, underrated ability, as well as a good hitscan weapon, hard to not like. Wish it were better because I really like this mech, play it a lot)
Raider -
Loc_TR: he's famous
ThirdEye: strong strong raider
hyginos - good raider
x9x8x7x - again he shows up because he's underrated but really strong
Poopslinger - RIP his forum presence but he was a guy I had trouble against when he was Raidering
DM30
Clusterbombman
comic_sans
jeffmagnum - great pubber, should be in comp
(good mech, really helped by its ability, do love me a good Raidering)
Sharpshooter
Nept, HOHOHOSANTA, NepR, CounterLogic, devotion, Draigun, Brigantine, TOEMASHER, Rei, jeffmagnum, cond0m
(a good sharpshooter can lock you down and punish you hard for bad positioning, these guys smack you in the face)
Predator
Dew, Jeffmagnum, LBRC
(great mech, wish people used it more in comp because it has a lot of potential)
G2 Assault
no one claims to use it for comp and for good reasons but I love it so I'm gonna say silverfire for G2A because I said so
C Classes
Rocketeer -
Anichkov3 - always playing it, not NA but he uses it and is very annoying
Amid - HEAT Rocky love
Brawler -
Counterlogicman, Omnistone, hestoned, iaredave, daronicus, cond0m, leonhardt jeffmagnum
(strong mech is strong)
Grenadier -
hestoned and darktim
(I wish I could put myself up there but I know I can't but I hope to reach these players' level of competency with Grenadier. Not many people use it and yeah, great great mech)
Vanguard -
M1lkshake, hyginos, Amid, bkcat, jaquio
(it's a heavy B class with a GL, great mech, these players play it comptently and I appreciate them)
Battleturkey AKA G2 Raider -
clusterbombman, jelooboi, poopslinger
these players stick out to me when I think of G2R.
Incinerator -
Leonhardt, Soccu (good pubber), iaredave, xacius
(it's a good mech, but gotta land those SAAREs)
let me know if I missed anything

This is a forum leader board where your more than welcome to name your top 5 or 10 players in each of the mech categories. This doesn't mean you go by mmr, your just naming your respected hawken players who you think is really good in that specific mech. It can be anybody, it's YOUR own list. It's how you see them

Just disagreement. Laughable disagreement.
His FLAK Scout was better than his HEAT. His aim was decent, but his cqc with FLAK (and HEAT especially) was just average IMO. Movement was predictable and I didn't find it hard to out position him and deliver the rekt.
