little suggestion (for future)
- add Prosk, Sentium and Crion flags (it seems strange that RLD don't think about it first, due it is based on game entourage)
- Japan flag (due the asia servers. yes, i know here probably not so much pilot, but...probably it help them play on their super-sonic scouts :D)

Pretty sure it wasn't. I made sure to put that blurb in when I posted it as I didn't have the list of flags handy.

 

From our string files, here's all the flags:

 

UNITED KINGDOM
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
RUSSIA
MEXICO
HOLLAND
GERMANY
FRANCE
CANADA
BRAZIL
AUSTRALIA

 

We don't have a Japan, Chinese or South Korean flag. Good ideas for the future, though.

 

Also there will be Prosk/Sentium themed items coming. Not just yet though.

(lets dev work/invest on game, creates lore for new content on demand, creates concepts, 4 free, damn that business model to hell!)

Since the topic of allegiance came up, it would be very cool if there was a system that would keep track of how often prosk or sentium won in each match and a graph representing the numbers would be visible in the main menu in the form of news. This would add another level of immersion for players, bringing them into the war and story; and this would be very beneficial since story is very scarce and sought after in this game.

 

You could then add a variable flag that would change depending on which side you're matched into (if you end up in prosk, it would show a prosk flag, and sentium, a sentium flag). Not sure how the implementation would work, but it would be very very cool. I would prefer a flag like this over one representing my home country since a country flag feels to me like a break in continuity.

It could easily be abused, also it'd require a much larger database to keep track of.

We would have to load the texture from a webserver each time it has to be viewed. That's pretty bandwidth intensive, probably outside the scope of what we're doing for now.

Even barring technical issues, it's a cockpit decoration that only the player with it sees. Who cares what's on it?

Since you don't choose which side you are fighting with, I'm not sure it would be that immersive.

Nepa is right.. wha about lore? I don't get my flag anyways wich i don't even need. It's why we play games to forget real world struggles and flags and divide in the world.  Just do the update and let the art team loose to brainstorm or tell them to play hawken all day to keep those games going.

Precisely.  further down someone mistakenly says only the pilot would see it.  there is a "TRUE" .ini file modification that puts you inside the killer's cockpit instead of 3rd person deth view--and i, and likely many others, use it.

 You and me EM10. It's always been in the UT engine. You just have to flip the switch for 1st or 3rd. I by far prefer the 1st. Its so nice to watch the guy who killed you get shot 20 times and not die. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

for those that desire the first person cockpit dethcam:

 

go to your Home \Documents\MyGames\Hawken\HawkenGame\Config\HawkenCamera.ini

3rd line from the bottom change the "false" to "true"

save it.

enjoy.

 

(there is a known bug in the code that puts your mech emblem and items inventory in it)

Not true.

 

What happened was while Luaq was typing up his response, CZ edited his post.  So when Luaq was looking at his screen he saw the old quote, but when he finished and clicked post, it automagically updated and inserted the new edited quote.  The old forums used to not experience that weird situation, but I've seen it happen a few times to myself.  I'm not sure when it first showed up if it was only since Reloaded redid the forums or if it happened sometime after that, but it does sneak in edits like that.

i also think, it may have problem with current interface (like "deal with it")
for example, in WoT we have over9000 country flags as a "emblems" which player can put on his tanks. this is look like a very big line of small icons, where you can find what your need.
at the same time, customization menu in HWK is a x3 table with super big icons. if you add many flags here, it will be look like current "pilot emblems" menu (but more complex), where you should trying to find you own flag (i mean, if devs just want to added all country flags)

my own opinion, current menu is not intended to have a large number of "titles". it is not bad, but i've see it like this.

I did just pointed out that the flag of the country I live in was missing and I was suprised though I couldn't care less for "my" country's flag indeed.
That's why I'm always up for custom patterns whether we upload them ourselves or that we chose and customize them like camos. 

And about the camo, I'll continue whining about the fact that buying a "toolkit" pack to customize our own camos with a selected amount of choices so we can actually bring up the clans alive by shining their own colors would be an instant buy for my crew.

Lastly, real world flags in a game where these flags don't exist is pretty "meh"

this is the exact reason why we don't need flags here (and why ADH never implemented them).  as a citizen, and retired career military member of The Great Satan, i don't need to put up with that BS ingame.  since my ancestry points in that direction, i'd likely have a Russian flag anyway--and i'll bet i wouldnt be the only person to do that sort of thing.

 

for PC,  just do the lore.  i'd do Prosk, as i have an intro file in the forums about my pilot's "background", and he's supposedly a Prosk mercenary.
