There's a 32-man ongoing TDM match on for a bit this weekend.

Ruleset:

-Standard rotation starting with bunker.

-2h 30min time limit. Stats may or may not save at the end of a game, so don't expect anything you do to save here. When the relaunch comes, stat saving will work for this event mode.

-1000 kill limit.

 

If it goes down, it'll be a bit before it goes back up. This isn't an automated server and is temporary. If it proves popular, we'll do it another weekend in the future with better hardware. If it's unpopular, we'll stop doing it.

Love it!   Disguise a server stress test as a special event.  Brilliant!

 

Just ribbing you though.  I always loved the larger servers of the past and it's good to see it return.  Please consider doing it for MA and Siege as well.

It's kind of amazing - I can barely ever find a total of 32 players online at a time anymore... yet this server has been full for hours with no sign that a single player has left it.  LoL.

 

I'm still trying though...

 

Also, why does it say "You may not join this server because it is locked"?

Because Merl locked it.  It's a pre-registered event (you needed to sign up earlier).  Everyone's in there who's time to fight is near.

Nah, it was not Merl's match, it was the Weekend Warrior thing... and it turns out that all full matches give that message (be it a poor choice of message).  I eventually slipped in between players and played for over 2 hours (which was only 1 full match, cuz the score is set to 2000 and the time limit is 3 hours).

 

Great time!

 

The server was pretty stable for a 32 person match.  Sure, there were some odd moments of loss of hit detection and one time where my movement controls and secondary firing went dead for a bit... and there was a little frame loss... but no rubberbanding or serious issues.

Kills have been changed to 500, timer is now 30 minutes. That should save your hands some :)

Good for him. Looks like from that screen grab at least that round he was significantly ahead. Sad to see nobody had the testicular fortitude to pilot a GRR. No hearts of darkness in this group it seems !

Someday, I'd like a field guide to who's alt is who in Hawken.

 

I think it'll be interesting in Howken for a while, I predict very few will use a 'main identity' for a while, practicing up.

After the right tail left for the deathmatch tourney, we had an intense match on Bazaar. Prosk started out with a constant 150 lead, but near 800 our front got too scattered and Sentium was closing the gap scurry fast. Luckily we pulled our fuzz together and regrouped under some impulse leadership to slow their advance for the last 200. The match took more than 2 hours. It was most likely the longest and best balanced out of the half a dozen 1000 kill matches.

 

1000/1000 would definitely pilot in a 32 mech desert warzone for more than 2 hours straight again.

Due to potential violations from policies enforced on us by MS/Sony, we can't host those events on XB1/PS4.

The event was immensely popular and we got some really good data from our gameservers regarding larger match sizes.

 

We'll be doing this again in the future, probably after the PC update.

Holy bananas foster!  I haven't seen numbers like that since MAG (PS3 game with up to 256 players in a match).

Just keep getting "This server is not accepting new players at this time." message.

 

Was finally able to get in... mercy, that was neat.

The hit detection (and invisible shots thing) was pretty prevalent, but not too "laggy" otherwise with a total of 60 players.

 

EDIT:

This was crazy!  It was the only open match... like every player was in one server.  And it wasn't a bad thing.  Hell, with bigger maps... it could be a thing that "all players join the same match". (Nah, I still want a variety of game modes - don't normally play TDM or DM myself, I'm an MA and Siege guy.)
