Did Hit Registration Improve?

Did hit registration improve or did hit boxes become larger or did I actually learn how to aim?  I am not a gamer what so ever and would never have gamed except having some health issues that at times keeps me cooped up at home.  Therefore I really have no point of reference other than after the update I could not hit anything but now I can.

Appreciate any comments that will shed light on this.

Thanks

Played several matches on the dallas servers last night, things appear to have improved, from what I saw. Saw some zero damage shots but they were few and on a high ping player, and if the hitboxes still haven't been fixed (I don't think they have) that could also account for it. Ping was about what I'd expect given my distance from dallas.

Well Morquedeas I know you were very frustrated with the hit reg after the update if I remember correctly so if you noticed an improvement then probably things getting better or we both learned how to aim.  ;)

Thanks for your input!

after i play with config, i can say - learn how to aim.
but actually my ping is 50-60, so, maybe i'm wrong. sometimes i got high lag on a some servers (teleporting, time traveling, weapons stop shooting), but it is not related with hit-reg, i mean, all players got this lags. but most of time everything working gine for me.

don't forget that the weapons trail not exactly the same than your weapon "real bullet" (i mean, bullet is just a point, and bullet trail is only animation which can fly in absolutely wrong direction, and don't fly immideately, which is not affected on hitscan bullet), so your crosshair should be exactly on enemy hitbox in a moment when you shoot, or damage nothing happen, even if you see that you "bullet trail" fly into enemy body.
probably, it is all about high ping, and ping difference between 2 players. imo.

i play a little on Vytro, it is always shooting good, except miss by my pilot mistakes. yesterday i play on AR/SMC assult - feel pretty good too for me.

more annoying things, that sometimes i can blow tow rockets in my hand, this is sad.

Hitscan can still be an issue, I should record evidence but sometimes the AR just doesn't hit

I believe hit boxes are smaller. Hit reg has been so so. My bolt shots are off for sure. Did turn speed change?

I've just checked figures, as I bought a G2 Recruit.

I lost 10% accuracy with AR ~from 36% down to 26% compared to pre-howken recruit I bought recently.

It was much better on the Dallas server I was on with Morq last night but unchanged on the others. Hitboxes are still weird, but it was a significantly improved experience.

Fake News, there has been no update to the quantum hitboxs so it can't have been fixed, but whatever enjoy your placebo servers.

breadeffect thought something, maybe net code, flipped the hitbox upside down somehow, i surmised the hitbox floating point got fuzzy bunnyed with and isn't being handled right anymore

still analyzing but there were some hitbox size manipulations done, i say this because the devs mentioned altering hitbox sizes for console so theres no telling what got sent through to us

Someone should really just test this to see for certain/provide proof what's going on. Cause yeah I know things are fuzzy right now but I have yet to see evidence or hear from devs and I'd like to know exactly what's up with hitboxes.

We could just sit in a game and poke at the models with slug and see where shots land or something.

There's been quite a few times where I've killed someone when I shouldn't have.. cool with me I guess but I've won a few fights I shouldn't have because I was aiming slightly to the right or left of an enemy, far enough to where I should miss but I didn't O_o

A little bit, but it's still far from acceptable in my opinion. Not sure why they shrunk the hitboxes - hopefully that'll be fixed.

I think the tick rate is pretty low, might be lower than 30 tps (ticks per second). Whenever I scope someone in for the kill, there is always a large delay - much larger than the in-game latency lets on.

There's also the chance that the whole issue wasn't caused by the hitbox but by the latency between players, and players and the server or something similar. I find myself skipping a lot of frames, even when I generally find myself between 60~100 fps. This causes me to miss a lot and I see a lot of teleporting enemies.

No because it is still crap even playing against bots in a 30 ping server. No rubber banding/ warping just bad hitboxs.

I think what people are trying to say is that the overall terribleness we have been experiencing was a combination of both bad servers and bad hitboxes. I can vouch for the new servers being at least a slight improvement, but hiboxes are still wonky.

I did some minor testing of the hitboxes, on B mechs arms, weapons, ankles and feet don't take damage. I don't know exactly what the old hitboxes were though so I have nothing to compare to. Also lacking people willing to do tests with me.

When I see you online I will be more than happy to tests with you Morquedeas.  Nothing would make me happier than to take some free shots at a stationary Raider.  Preferably Monstadonin.

That's assuming bots aren't server-based, and ping is really only relevant with a stable server. The highest ping I've had so far is 60, yet I still have problems comparable to +200 ping pre-update.

I'm assuming that the bots ARE server based, and players aren't. Adding that extra hop while playing against other people is always going to double the lag.

uPm4AWp.png

If the server isn't lagging and clean hits are still missing, Hitboxs are still to damn small. It seems to get worse when those hitboxs are in motion, on slops, ect. Testing against a target that is just standing there only shows you so much. Maybe if the server tick rate is to low the hitbox are actually shaking/rubberbanding (even if the visible models aren't) and that is causing the quantum hitbox effect, no way to tell because hitbox's are invisible.

This is what I was implying. There's no way to tell if it's a problem with the server ("rubberbanding" as you say) or the hit-boxes being too small, so I'm saying the former is more probable given the factors I've experienced and seen. I doubt they would purposefully shrink the size of the hit-boxes, given that the update originated from the console release....unless their plan is to shrink and enlarge the hit-boxes for PC and Console players respectively in order to reach some form of balance between us in preparation for the "highly-anticipated" server merge.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I've been seeing for the last 3 weeks.  Especially on single shot hit-scan weapons on mechs like the Sharpshooter, Reaper, Kerby and Vytro.  And the Vytro is the worst of it - I can drop a dead-centered, fully charged double-shot from both the Breacher and Electrothingy... and nothing - no damage, no visible impact.  And, like that video, I often can see my shots go right through them and hit the wall.

To be serious for a moment this is just a joke

We're looking into retiring some of the older servers and are planning to have every server be on a different provider in the near future.

Thank you for the feedback regarding the servers. For those of you who didn't notice, we did add some new servers that should have better performance.

We've been keeping an eye on server metrics and they seem generally better.

For what it's worth, newer servers seem to have better hit registration. At this point, I blame any failed hit registration on the fuzzy bunnyed up hitboxes when in said servers.
