The movement has slowed down. 

So to get it back up, we need to do a couple of things.

 

1) Bluetoothboy, did you get spectator mode? A couple of members are waiting for you to get it. 

 

2) Till then, we need to keep recording. Join in on that server and just goof around. Who knows? We may just get all the necessary shots. Experiment. Brainstorm. Got ideas? Post 'em in the steam group. Let's do this!!!

I tried posting this to the steam community discussion, but I was told in bright red text that I couldn't because reasons. (Something about permissions and what not.)

So, here's thoughts.

 

I'm afraid I won't be able to look through all of the posts until tomorrow morning, but I wanted to add a few things in:

 

Making people wouldn't be as difficult as it sounds, between Garry's mod, the Source Film Maker, and the numerous different models already currently available to both programs, it would be far easier than expected to find a decent model, ask and recieve permission for use, and set them up for talking.

 

As for putting them in game, that will take doing on the unreal engines, and I have no knowledge on them.

 

It maybe more beneficial to show the Assault assaulting something... Like, maybe the mine was already taken, and the workers had to fall back with their mining rigs... Show them modifying the stuff they have on hand, like they don't have SMC's or AR's, maybe more like bolt guns and drilling hooks.

 

It wouldn't be bad to have the whole thing narrated by someone who would be considered the 'pilot' of the mech, like their telling the viewer the heritage of their favorite AXE or something.

I'd vote for you to be a director.  +1  Anyone else?  We can't just leave such a big decision waving in the wind here. :P  Whoever is going to be the director must have a sense for what the story (or frag video with some lore slapped on it) can be, idealize a scene in their head and make sure it all works out, or use any scenes made (either by mistake or ingenuity that makes the trailer we're doing better) into something fantastic.

I think the bigger issue with adding people was maintaining a certain level of quality. We might not be able to do so and have it look good. However, I am gonna see about importing one of the garage workers that stand around in the menus and potentially animating those. I am fairly decent at compositing and tracking footage, so I might be able to make it work. But there are no guarantees.

i like the idea of having the pilots being involved with the conversation, be it with Laila or with the pilot of the mech in question. An emotional connection is important to a game whether a player knows it or not, you can see it in the loyalty people have with things like pokemon. the more invested we can get people the better.

Someone's getting some things up and running... 
 


Basically, I imported not just the model this time, but the skeleton and animations as well. This could be useful... It also means (thanks to the Oculus Rift support!) that I have access to three fully furnished interiors (A, B, and C class) instead of the standard cockpits (which do not have complete interiors). This also means I can animate some hands in the cockpit pushing buttons and stuff, and overlay it into the other footage, which will look far more natural than overlaying hands into a shot of the in-game cockpit view. :)

Cool! There are a bunch of shots that are still left to be taken. I will try to be online as much as i can. So whenever BluetoothBoy or DrFreeze001 is online, we should do them and finish them. There are a lot of these mechs left and we should finish these as fast as possible. The shots left are quite simple. Just mechs looking around inside facility [as if supervising the work going on] and maybe more fight scenes. Try and be online at 4:00 GMT or so. We should finish this.

Just a thought but is Leila going to be in this at all? She's rather nifty if someone could find a voice actor, or maybe use her for the infiltrator as she does the tutorial in one. My 2 cents.

Well we did do a bit of discussing and we did make progress. Once Freeze has put together a mock up we can work out what extra shots we need etc
