I think we'll avoid item/internal restrictions beyond the standard scanner ban.  Makes for too much drama/dispute potential.

I don't see orbs as the beginning of a slippery slope.  No other item benefits a specific playstyle nearly as much as orbs, perhaps barring shield (which is easily countered and/or taken advantage of by the enemy).  I just think it would be interesting to see how significantly reducing the impact orbs have on the game would affect small-scale skirmishes like these as well as in 6v6 and DM.

Well, my thinking was if orbs are banned then what are people to do with their mechs that are equipped with orb-centric internals?  Ban the orbs and people will need to change internals.  Not everyone has the resources to just swap them out (which in reality probably wouldn't be a problem for most of the participants).  I just don't think orbs break the game, the orb-lord setup does.  

 

Don't get me wrong, I agree that it would be fun and interesting without orbs.  I just don't think it would be very fair to pick and choose items to ban (except scanners...).
