The G2Raider is my favorite mech in this game. It's just the most fun. For some reason it's not played or talked about often. Unless Flidang or I bring it up and shove it down people's throat. It's not even mentioned when people talk about OP or best mechs.

Those of us that play it, love it though.

So here are some things I'd like to see...
-picture of multiple G2Raiders in turkey mode
-more people playing G2R
-discussion of G2Raider setups
-sweet videos of g2r killing people with gobble sounds
-discussion on why it's so OP at every level of play

I've been running fuel converter, extractor, and armor fusor but I'm really not sure if that's the best option. Fuel converter seems like an obvious choice but the other two I'm not so convinced about.

Power surger, extractor all the time and anything else to fill the last spots. I tried ark-extractor, but I love the extra speed from surger.

i juggle them around, but this gives me some leeway depending on the lobby's skills/playstyles--and to play "dress-up" with all that bling i been buying. i'll toss in another variation in about another 6k hc.  :)

Why does nobody remember that I was the original vocal goddamn proponent of how awesome the g2 raider is?!?!? Merl and I even tied for king! It's the best.  It's the BEST.  IT'S THE BEST ASDF I LOVE THIS THING AND I HAVE BEEN SAYING SO WHERE YOU CAN READ IT SINCE DAY 1

I know someone said they use replenisher, and if there was ever a mech for replenisher this might be it.

I'm interested to hear the experts' setups though. Items as well

Btw, I think g2r is one of the most common heavies in west, but then again the c meta is generally weaker here

Best heavy mech in the game in my opinion. It is terribly underrated and picked on, It seems to be a hate it or love it type of thing with very little in between.

Evasive device, Power surger & Fuel converter i like in it.

Also, why is it called battle turkey ?

Best internal setup, whenever I try something else I always come back to these 3.

 

It's the battle turkey because when it activates its ability it looks like a turkey charging at you.  Kinda like this:

No seriously i still don't get it, why does this thing get all the hate and mocking ? It's like the fat kid in gym class that gets picked last.

1. Super slow without the ability
2. Ability consumes fuel and reveals you on radar
3. Really limited range
4. Most unforgiving secondary
5. No alternate primaries
6. Looks ridiculous (even though I love it)

I like the degrading name and lame reputation, because then I can make fun of my friends when I kill them with it.  GOBBLE GOBBLE all those juicy A-mechs...

Degrading? It's not degrading it's glorious. I prefer vanilla Raider over the G2 but there's nothing more glorious than seeing that giant hunk of metal charging into battle.

Lol this is so true. I consider this the ideal trollmech because of this. Nothing more satisfying than seeing a scout preparing it's extensive dance choreography around you only to be shot down before it even began.

I only googled mech turkey, I also found screenshot of G2 raider using it's ability but they weren't as fun.

I know Merl and a couple of others said they did, but I never saw any videos posted. :(

EDIT: I'm thinking of the wrong event, was thinking of the Turkey hunt mode either on a War Wednesday or the Hawken anniversary, but regardless I want to see those videos.

Yeah after making 6 separate builds on the g2 raider I can safely say the power surge, evasive device, and fuel converter combo is the best for the g2 raider's role. Although I put my own spin on it by using the composite armor with the basic fuel converter.

 

After losing about 30 some odd hours across all mechs during the bugs about a month ago I think I'm almost back up to 180 hours in the g2.

I like the Battleturkey, but I'd like it even more if it didn't have the bug (I think it's a bug) where the special ability breaks if you boost or dodge.

 

Also, just like the normal Raider, ADH never got around to making that adjustment they mentioned to speed up the reload rate for the Corsair - they forgot to speed it up when they increased the mech speed and reduced the TTK on the last update.  That would be a nice finishing touch.

I don't have a video of it but Loc, LE and I tested G2R against Raider and Scout with abilities active and G2R beat both.  It's both the slowest and fastest mechs in the game :)

I discovered earlier for myself that during G2 blitz a person can toss down a barricade and move past it before it deploys adding strategic possibilities. Just thought you guys might want to know

I just wished that the G2 Raider wasn't locked behind leveling up the Raider (a mech I don't even have yet).  G2 Raider sounds fun to pilot... Wish I had more time to pilot axes.  Curses!

Raider was one of the fastest mechs to level for me. It can rack up a lot of xp fast with the right team.

Very cool, I hadn't thought of that!  Be careful with emp/ism/det/HE because I think you can still run into your own items with power surger active =/

I would like to step out of the shadows and declare here that I am and have been a G2R enthusiast for quite some time now. This is the first time my family will hear this from me, I think they have suspected me as being G2 for awhile.

 

I'd like to thank all the pilots that have been rekt by my G2R....it was and will continue to be very satisfying.

 

@poopslinger what is your !psr ?

 

Also can confirm that with evasive device, and power surger after a kill and with <50% hp the G2R is the fastest mech....if not it is still the scariest mech at those speeds.

Psr = 0.  Ashfire said he changed how psr was calculated Saturday though, so it could literally be anything now.

Nonsense. I play every mech other than G2A and Rocketeer on the regular. It's just generally not beneficial to face you in G2R because you win at that.

It seems to be a rapidly growing trend and more and more people are bravely stepping out of the closet, It is such a common thing to judge what you don't understand but here we are more open-minded than that.
