A lot of responses in this thread are a bit vague, or simply express distaste without providing specifics, so in an effort to demonstrate that we do have legitimate grievances about the direction this appears to be heading (and are not just afraid of change), allow me to tabulate:
- If the B3-AR that is now supposedly mounted on the Vanguard is bears any resemblance to any of the 3 incin weapons that are currently in the game, the mech will have to either deal with having almost no dps for the first half of a fight or will have to try its best not to overheat while keeping the gun spun up. It is possible that the gun has been adjusted to fit better, but putting it on the Vanguard seems to show an ignorance of the fundamental design purpose of the B3-AR series: they are meant to go with a weapon that vents some heat when fired.
- No alternate primary weapons listed. To rehash old mechs and call them new while taking away a number of old options is scummy. Here's to hoping that the page is simply incomplete.
- Scanner as a default on more mechs with a description that suggests it has not been reworked. The maphax scanner being in need of a rework is one of the few things that the the forum community has an almost total consensus on, and they go and put the thing as a default on more mechs. Please.
- Return of the gren turret. I invite anyone at RLD to go watch some of the hours upon hours of competitive/high level hawken play and keep track of the percentage of time players use the turret mode that is available to them. You will find that voluntarily giving up side dodge is simply not worth it against players with more than a few hours in the game.
- Lots of things changing at once with no intermediate play testing (or even consulting the playerbase) is a recipe for questionable balance.
In addition there are a few minor concerns that I have personally:
- Assault is apparently G2A now, which I'm not sure I have a problem with in principle, but the current G2A barely keeps up despite higher HP and walk speed than any other B mech. If they keep the old assault stats this thing is going to be awful. Considering the B3-AR on the Vanguard I don't trust that this will be balanced well.
- Double Rev-GL? Uptown is going to be unpleasant. It seems a bit spammy and boring to have two identical weapons like that but it isn't inherently unbalanced.
- Removal of G2 raider. No fun allowed.
- Removal of incinerator.
- Bunker is still not in the map guide. It's only been like 3 years. You went and messed around with all that stuff but couldn't be arsed to add an entire map?
- I'm afraid of change and don't want to re-learn the game I've played on the same patch for years.
Generally speaking these are things that might be non-issues that are falsely suggested by an incomplete page, but it begs the question why someone thought it was a good idea to put up a reworked game guide without actually completing it first, and if it is incomplete, why is it not labeled as such?
