Hello Hawken Community and Reloaded,

I require your assistance. After enjoying this game for about a month, I now cannot finish a single match without Hawken crashing, and the responding 'Hawken Crash Dialog' coming up with a very long errors about some missing files i believe.

I have tried having Steam scan the game files for issues, which reported none, and tried to do a reinstall but that's not so simple on steam apparently.

Here is the error from the hawken crash dialog in full:

try moving your hawken folder out of the steamapps/common folder to your desktop and then running hawken and playing a match (at least i think you can still do this, hawken should be able to run independently of steam like without steam even running and without any filepath errors, at least for the foreseeable short term future)

yes this stupidly simple trick sometimes can solve lots of stupidly simple problems

whether it fixes the problem or not, put the folder back, if it didnt work try running the game and playing a match again

finish by trying to verify game files once more if you crash

all else fails you may need to reinstall hawken (no its not complicated like you said, you may just be steam-inexperienced, who knows?) for all i know your re-distributeables got butchered by file corruption or something as theres some windows .dlls in that dialog

i once had a weird bug with hawken not running that just as weirdly, was resolved only by creating a new windows user and running hawken from there, afterwords my actual windows user could run hawken again no problem

you could try that also if you like, just create a new user on windows and login to it, go into the docs where hawken is (likely in the docs of user A), you can either run it from here, or move it to your desktop (essentially moving it from user A's docs to user B's) and run it from there depending on the necessity

all that fails, go complain to support, this is all dependent of course on which frikkin windows edition you use.....and whether or not these steps are accurate to your problem....

but dont take my word for it, i dont even play the game these days

What kind of RAM do you have?
I think some of that error refers to memory addresses.

If you have 2 sticks of RAM, try shutdown and remove second stick. Play a match.
Shutdown and put the removed stick in slot one and leave the first stick out. Play a match.

This should exclude memory as the fault (or perhaps confirm it).

Cheers,

try install all versions VC++ and Netframework. i mean, not only last version, but 3.0, than 3.5, than 4.0 etc.
maybe some info about your PC  and windows can help.

if you have automatic page file settings try (if you have large ram try disable entirely though this most often causes crashes aswell)to set the page file size to match the ram available this fixes alot of problems for me in many games

click start type "performance" hit enter to bring up

the system performance settings containing the page file settings to tweak, (also uncheck the misc features to get more performance on first tab)

i believe making a new user only accomplished the same as if you just simply erased your documents/mygames/hawken folder
