Just looked at Anichkov3 mech profile on herokuapp, 1062 hours in rocketeer.  We should listen to him on rocketeer.  Also, I propose a forum title of Rocketeer Master instead of advanced member.

Nepa, you gave me some great thoughts on helping the Rocketeer and Bruiser be more competitive without making it OP:

 

1. Make the Hellfire Lock-on warning only sound once the player has actually fired them.  So, a player could lock on, but their target wouldn't know until you actually fire.  :D

 

2. A faster backwards walking and flying speed.  YES.  The whole strategy behind staying alive in a Rocketeer (and to a lesser extent in the Bruiser) is being able to attack while retreating.

 

I meant to add to the above the reminder that we all need when discussing Hellfires and Seekers:  One of the last things Adhesive did before they went dark was to announce that they were going to start making balance changes to the Hellfires and Seekers.  The first change they announced and made was to seriously nerf both the travel speed and tracking of both Hellfires and Seekers - saying, "We're going to start with a drastic nerf to these weapons so we can see the difference in the numbers and then begin to slowly increase their speed and tracking until we find the sweet spot."

 

And that's the last thing they did... nerf them into practical uselessness and then they quit working on the game.

Think of that blamed Seeker. His blamed for what he discreetly with autoguider flies to the enemy. nepacaka wants to do the same with HF. That's all.

 

even without sound HF never been like a Seeker, because HF have a slow firerate.

How it working?

If enemy don’t see you, you can shoot in enemy a three seeker rockets. When first rocket hit the enemy, they starting realize that he takes damage and determine from which side he is being fired. Due the seeker rockets flying a very fast, the enemy usually takes the second and the third rocket before he can find a cover. It is guarantees you a deal 150 damage to enemy. Most of time Seeker Rocketeer killing runaway people and deal a lot of damage by Seeker rockets. And not from HF. It is sad true.

he never play with Heat or EOC, because it too weak on rockee and does not allow him to kill thousands of peoples :)

Amazing argument. Can you also damage from a single hit Seeker and HF compare?

The opportunity to open the eyes of some, but people are different. All the different habits and preferences. For example, some special mech which change depending on the playing maps. Especially to be "top". I found a mech with whom I like to play and I play them according to type no matter what map.

 

Sincerely condolences those who it measures surrounding people in his tastes. Narrow outlook of unfortunately will accompany them throughout their life.

 

By the way, I wrote above (in Russian only): Before the difference between the rate of fire TOW and HF was 25%, and is now 45% !!! And recalled that:

 

Maybe you better remember how HF became so now. Remember earlier HF had 40 DPS. A TOW missiles had 47 DPS. And then what happened? Make a "balance": HF made 34 DPS; TOW made 55.5 DPS.

Narrow outlook of unfortunately will accompany them throughout their life.

 

you just always look at this only from rocketeer side. nothing bad if you play on all mech with different weapons loadout and compare it. on the contrary, expand your horizons and let you know about their advantages and disadvantages. and perhaps make you to reconsider the sights

 

i don't see nothing wrong to gain a EOC/Heat rocketeer and Bruiser a slightly buff, and make it stronger and more playable in 1vs1 fight.

Gathering stats with less than 50 samples is pointless. Especially with the smurf phenomenon we got in hight tier. That's why you cant objectively balance around the vets. That was the whole point of open beta. To fine tune with big data.

 

Last time Hellfires were tweaked to appease some attention whores raising drama in the forum, effectively restraining Rocketeer to the low skill ceiling Seeketeer you're now almost forced to play. Too bad for the only unique weapon mechanic Hawken has to offer compared to other games.

This was not something i knew, i really hope they work back around to this eventually so we can get some viable bruiser/rocketeer in mid to high level play.

Hellfires were nerfed. Seekers were BUFFED.

 

Seekers are very effective, it's a good weapon. It's just not fun compared to the charge/aim/lock/strafe/bend old rocketeer pilots used to learn.

Well, to be completely clear, although I don't remember anything about Seekers damage being buffed... their tracking was seriously nerfed.  They used to obviously turn towards enemies that were within the range of the reticle when fired.  Now they make a very slight curve in the general direction of enemies within the reticle.

I couldn't find the post for that.  I looked in March '14 and every other update post... just didn't find it.  Not doubting, just wanted to read the details.

Well... i have an idea... What, if the special ability of the Rocky wouldn't allow him 2 auto-lock-on the Hellfires, but instead of this DISABLE the auto-lock-on of the Hellfires COMPLETELY (no more warning beeps in this mode only!), and ALSO change the Hellfire fire-mode in2 a CHAINFIRE, similar 2 the way, the EOC mines r fired, but without ANY spread, so that the Rocky could swipe the stream of rockets over flying A-classes in CQC, or even do long range precision rocket attacks without any annoying beeps alerting the enemies??? This way, the spread, and the effectivity of dumb-fired Hellfires would be compensated, the almost useless Turret-mode would change the Rocky in2 a more versatile supporter, and its CQC-viabilty would b improved a little bit, too - not 2 mention, that in this case "Stealth"-Attacks r as well possible as normal "guided" missile attacks... This would give the Rocky-pilots much more options ingame, they could choose from - depending on the situation... Do any1 agree?

I really dig a lot of what you're saying there.

 

I don't see why the special would be to disable the Hellfire auto-lock-on.  There is no "automatic lock-on" unless you're in turret mode (which I think is just a bad mechanic to begin with, but since I never use turret mode on the Rocketeer any more, It's not bothering me).  You have to push the weapon swap button to initiate lock-on - so if you want to dumb-fire them, you just do it.

 

However, it would be super awesome to be able to have an alternate fire mode for the Rocky (I liked your nick-name for it) that did the cummulative (chain) lock mode.  It would take more time to get a full lock, but allow for more flexibity for the clever player.  Since it wouldn't deal any more damage than the original lock mode, I don't see any balance problems.
