Th only selling points of those two trailers seem to be "LOOK ITS GHOST IN THE SHELL ISN'T THAT GREAT" and "She isn't technically naked. *wink*"
I'm with Amid on this one.

It's utter fuzz.
Well yeah there are signs that it's gonna be fuzz. But one can hope. You should try this if not seen it. It's quite good

edit: and she's naked for reals in this one wink

It could be at least as good as the Aeon Flux movie.
Which was not a "good" movie, but still a fun movie.
This one will prolly be similar, I'm OK with that
(Problematic white-wash casting choices aside; That's honestly the main problem here IMO).

I'm disappointed that they chose scarlett johanson.
I expected a more athletic female character, and with dark hair.
I'm a bit sad that sigourney weaver is too old now

Same here. If you have artificial body for fighting and all that you would probably want longer legs and such.. i mean longer limbs.

Anyone well-versed in anime will understand that this is a simple money grab and that the 1995 animated film never needed an adaptation.
^ Pretty much this.

Even if you've just seen the 1995 film and no other anime, I would argue.
With that said, even though it doesn't need a live action adaptation I don't think there is anything really wrong with the idea. I think the universe is interesting enough that you could do a good modern adaptation, live action or otherwise. What I think turns me off about this one is that it looks like it sits in a weird place between a straight remake and a new story in the same universe, which I think is a poor choice. Its almost like it was directed based on a 3 sentence plot summary and a highlight reel without having seen the whole thing.

she never was "techically naked" in anime too (i'm talking about 1995 movie, bacoz gits series is a garbage and not as good and serious as a 1995 movie, imo)
but i want to see final battle with tank in movie, bacoz the big six-legged robot :P

It makes more sense to do this than any american comic hero movie at this point.
I heard they taken out the PuppetMaster character. Stupid or maybe intruiging decision.

Honestly, the scene of the major falling from the top of the building has been so much used, it becomes a running gag to me
I'm disappointed that they chose scarlett johanson.
I am disappointed that they chose a Western actress to start with. Good job Hollywood. Whitewashing and all. Great.

Maybe an action movie was needed (as an otaku, I would say no). But yes, the universe is interesting enough and if you are looking for a bit more, there are several very good series (well, to my mind). Some of them deal more with AI and cybernetic aspects of the lore, which are the major reasons why I love this universe:
- Ghost in the shell: Stand alone Complex;
- Ghost in the shell: Stand alone Complex 2nd GIG;
- Ghost in the shell: Arise - Alternate architecture (a bit meh).
And of course you have the original manga of 91-01, at some points far more sordid (in the Shadowrun "high tech, low life" way) and comical than the anime:
- Ghost in the shell;
- Ghost in the shell 1.5: Human-Error Processer;
- Ghost in the shell 2: Manmachine Interface.
There is a couple of other materials I have not included, but MAL should help you.

Saw this on Tested a few weeks ago.
Watching Tested, it really surprised me how much stuff Weta Workshop makes, yet I'd never heard of them before then.

Uh, Lord of the Rings? It was pretty much WETA's pet project, and is what put them on the global stage (I mean Hercules and Xena were alright too I guess).
