I like the new HUD but I can already tell why some people won't or don't from the preview.
Personally, I'd like to have the options to minimize HUD elements, use the new HUD or use the old HUD.
When I say minimize, I mean use the current "shape," if you will, of the new HUD, but without the sort of... holographic elements.

I reserve judgment until the patch actually comes out. For all I know, anything I could suggest is planned anyway.

Haha, didn't really see the new HUD since I watched it in 240p. I heard that a lot of people disliked it, but I mean there's going to be people who are going to like it.
Oh noes! Ugly bad guys, don't worry Captain Cosmo to the rescue!

Of course they can make improvements to the old HUD. I just wish they would keep it with the style of Hakwen. Hawken is supposed to be a dirty Future type setting, not everything is pretty, and our Mechs are held together by Grit, Ducktape, and Dreams.

The new interface seems too clean and digital, looking almost like High-Sci-Fi. I'm not saying we can't have things like the healthbar; but we need to keep the Aesthetic feel that fits in with Hawken. This isn't just another FPS shooter OR another Mech game.

The new cockpit also lacks several of the old readouts that our old cockpit had, no Altimeter, Accelerometer, or Compass. All that stuff wasn't just screen clutter, it was part of the charm of Hawken.
At the end of the day, though, what matters most is playability.

This new HUD gives you the information you need more clearly and with less "visual noise", to make for a less distracting and more precise experience.

I'm honestly fine with it.  It now has a nice blend between just gauges in the cockpit, and what looks like a cheap hack job someone did in a helmet visor to give more data.  Doesn't look futuristic enough to me that it breaks the feeling the game has had up to this point as far as tech level.

Funny new HUD with the health and fuel bars floating in your face. Please allow a classic HUD mode.

I would like to see a modular HUD like in other Games where we can decide where the parts are located and wether they are on the screens or in the overlay

Pilot level is taken into account for match making, so a high level pilot will never be matched up against new players or players of lower levels.
What about smurfs_

I don't get that reference, but I'll take a stab at it:

The way it will work is that a player's level is account bound, so regardless of whatever mechs you have at whatever levels, you'll always be fighting within the same bracket of similar pilot level players. That we know for certain.
From the get-go, some people may be more skilled and start at a lower level where they end up squashing newbies and whatnot. But the system doesn't allow that to last long, because that person's pilot level will quickly start to reflect their skill level and they will be put in a higher bracket. Once it's in that range I assume comes the question of whether or not people can "dumb down" and lose a bunch of matches in order to lower their pilot level and stomp some lower rank players again. I don't know if that's possible or if once you reach a pilot rank, you're stuck at that rank, but if not then I don't know how they'll counteract it.
Pilot level = time invested in game. Not skill, it is a measure of EXP gained and doesn't tke into account skill. I believe however that they stted somewhere that MM will take into consideration pilot level and "some other" variables. So that players with varying skill degress don't get placed together. I hope they have worked out the kinks in the current system tho, i couldn't imagine segregating the community in both MMR and pilot level.

Click me! I dare you.

It's not necessarily that it's too High tech, it's just too clean and ridiculously simple. It's lost tons of the small details that made it feel like a Vehicle HUD. The new Cockpit is great, the dashboard is well designed and fits the theme just fine, it's just the parts that are floating that feel off.

Human related deaths/gore would change the ESRB rating from a T to M (or might have been E to T, can't find the source). Adhesive have previously stated the higher rating is too high a price for a bit of blood and guts.

besides which it would trigger more rage if people started smacking their pilots around or played hopskotch with your head.

I think the new HUD has everything to do with the Oculus Rift. I guess that the 'floating' aspects will stay centred as you look around, as if they were projected onto the inside of your visor perhaps_ I may be wrong of course.

I'm very much looking forward to this patch. It all seems very cool to me and I am very excited to play the new map and see the optimisation of the old ones.

Great work team [HWK] but it's time to release it now ;)

For play is over time for penetration. Enough talk. I am tired of reading and watching movies. Let the patch out already. Stop dangling it in front of us. The Devs have been talking for more than month now where is it. Sorry everybody the twelve year old inside me escaped for a few minutes.

Interface - ugliness
dodge in the air - ugliness
spam items - ugliness

nothing remains of the wonderful concept of "НАЩКЕИ" that was at the beginning.
toothcrashed  gameplay (i mean, quick and hard) with each new patch is becoming more and more boring and poky.

Then start a thread that focuses on the core competitive aspect of Hawken that many have been talking about on various different threads recently. Your not alone in this feeling (even some of the more casual players feel this way <-- some is the key word here), but it would probably be more effective if our thoughts on Hawken's changes and what can be done to bring it back into the competitive spotlight were in a collective thread and CONSTRUCTIVELY talked about than being spread out all over the place. (I would start the thread myself, but I know for a fact that I am not the best person to open this conversation.) after all, We can only do some much with getting angry on the forum and getting into online shouting arguments.

Edit: The key thing to remember is that advance members that have been here since the beginning who just get angry at the direction the game is going and leave, can easily be replaced by newer members who don't know what it was like before and will be completely fine with how things are now. That's why saying things like "Its not the same, It was more fun before" wont help solve the issue.
