So, as we all know, there's gonna be a big revival of this game, as a new wave of new players. The problem is, some veterans will make rage quit some of these newbies, and we don't want that of course.
Here's my idea: let's make a kind of "Helping Group" for new players, with some training combat, suggesting basic advice and strategies for each mech, map and team colab. This way, i think we can encourage people to stay in HAWKEN and get better at the game, and not to get too harrased by more experienced players, such veterans and other kinds of players.
So, don't know if there's already a guide for this things, but can be a great idea having a face to face help with the new players, instead of writing it on paper or on a video guide. If there's people who wants to give it a try, leave a comment below. If there're players who need advice, feel free to add me and i'll accept right away.
Thanks for reading!

That's all I can do to help, provide you with the biggest guide for a single mech in HAWKEN.
I honestly have a very thin patience with people who don't know the basics.

It's true, i began playing this since alpha for example. But not everyone has that patience or that potential, or they just want to know some strategies you know. This is just a project for who wants to help newbies and don't make them rage quit the game. Just another thing to keep the community fresh and stable for more long time.

I can help with Vanguard, G2Raider, and Tech, but my best contribution is well explained by the title of my YT link below. :D
And here's my biggest beef (what Meraple said):
"What key do I use for _____"
Dead give-away as a prompt for the first thing I say: "Have you completed the VR Training session in your Garage?"
1. "No."
or:
2. Stands still shooting, or hangs up in the air and gripes about getting torn to shreds by everyone.
3. Calls the starving carnivore in the HEAT Scout a hacker.
4. Gets a Brawler and stays in turret mode the entire match.
5. Consistently scores below 100 points.
These are the folks we should msg or meet with them in the Hawken TS. Catch them before they rage quit and never come back.

I can help with Tech, and i have some advanced strategies with it and I also main support classes, so don't worry about them.
But if you can help with other offensive mechs it will be really helpful. Such as Infiltrator and Predator for example. And also some map awareness will be really helpful.
As i can see, we can also make a group of people to make "training drills" and stuff like that on voice chat. My english is not that good but i can try. Suggestions about it are welcome

Omg nice! This can be really nice for putting on practice the learned strategies. Btw, we can put together this two things, personal advice with newbie training drills. Awesome work there, hope i can help with something there.
Also i don't have that "good" english but i can help, especially with Tech.

I remember how I learned Hawken tactics was when this one pro took me and a few others to a lone deathmatch server and just showed us how to do things. He taught me a lot of corner play strategies and advanced movements that I won't soon forget. Not even mech specific tactics, but general maneuvers that are good for any situation. If noobs are willing, take them to an empty deathmatch server and show them how its done with various tactics. Hell I would do it, even though I am not really a pro...

Just as a interesting note, how discouraging it is when you give a little advice in game and it being taken as ragey etc by new players. Still workin the bugs out of that one, im sure theres a way ;)
Also, just yesterday I had my eyes opened in a big way, Seiging, one dude doing nothing at all but shooting ship, if no ship he would stand and wait for the next, tried all the obvious things like "follow me", explained a couple things etc etc.
Until finally a response, "hey guys, sorry about this, im letting my intellectually disabled brother play a couple matches, he seems to like shooting the ship, alot"
So yea, eyes opened, everyone wants to blast some stuff with a tow, and as a community we ought to cater..
We shot the crap out of those ships ;)

I personally spent a lot of time helping my brother learn the game. He is less of a FPS gamer than I am, he likes helicopter sims. The issue is that I found that taking him into DM, I lost a lot of MMR that I may never get back.
I'd like to see a training map like the fightclub that is available to all regions, without matchmaking, no MMR effects, and you can gain mentor points for helping a noob learn the game. It would need the other person to rate you up though so it isn't incredibly easy to exploit. Once a person gets enough mentor points they get a mentor avatar so players in lobby can see it and know who to ask for help.
I'd happily spend some evenings skilling up players (in a place that won't tank my MMR) if I got an avatar out of it.

Then at the moment I suppose I'm in more of a niche to do it (since I don't care about MMR), but if this changes anything we didn't actually kill each other in the server until after he taught us stuff.

with private servers I care less about MMR.
I was playing another AU player last night 1v1 in DM. Good matches.
I think 1v1 scrims are a good way to get a new player skilled up. You might pwn them but you have the time to tell them what they can do better without 5 other enemies to get in the way. I think it feels better to get rekt by 1 player who is doing it to expose technique flaws for your gain rather than get rekt continuously by 6 enemies who don't care to tell you what you could have done better.
I'd like to see some non-tpg 1v1 scrim practice events with plenty of advice handed out between bouts.
I know that when I scrim against players higher than me it takes a few goes to work out what I need to improve then I do see some gains. Its faster to work out when they tell you what weakness they are exploiting rather than having to work it out yourself.
Cheers,

Really good initiative and some really good ideas.
My suggestion:
How about a list of players that are willing to answer questions about the game. Have this list on the forums linked in game via a news tile or at the end of the tutorial. New players could add them to their friends list and ask questions if they have them.
Linking to the post via in game news tile would be the easiest way to get it out there.
Ideally linking the post at the end of the tutorial would inform new players that there is a forum, outside of steam, and provide a list of helpful players to add to friends.

We have a post for mentors on Steam Hawken Oceanic.
I don't think many new players see it.
Would be good to get a moderated* thread on the forum for mentors by regions, and then have one of those icons appear in game on the menu right hand side and it links to the mentor thread.
Had some awesome scrims against a player last night. Better than me and several times I came within a whisker of downing him after dropping all of my items. It was damn near awesome. The close win or close loss can be equally fun. I had to work my ass off and I loved it.
Thx for the scrims Jim.
Cheers,
