Hi.

I've noticed not that many people in HAWKEN pay proper attention to their mech cosmetics, resulting in some seriously ugly skins. This is truly disturbing.

 

As a self-entitled pro of the subject with 3 years of experience and thousands of MC spent, I've taken the responsibility of demonstrating what real high-tier cosmetic customization should look like.

 

NO you are not allowed to have your own opinion. This is not subjective. Stop protecting your ugly mechs.

 

Unfortunately in HAWKEN our customization freedom is severely limited. For example we are provided with custom painted torso parts, but no arms/legs/middles designed to directly go with them.

This can be circumvented with enough planning and choosing your parts carefully.

 

Another problem are the repair drone and thruster colors. We cannot change the color of these parts, not the base or the flame color. This problem can be worked around by picking skins and colors that compliment the thrusters and drones instead of going the other way around.

Finally, i feel it should be noted that incorporating elite parts into the skins in creative ways is totally next level. And combining cupcake parts with any combination of any other parts or colors instantly wins all other skins.

This is the 'low-budget' variation. Of course you can still achieve a different look this way but you didn't spend over 1000 MC's on that which makes it objectively inferior.

On my pred I gave it the Res arms, and I think it's legs too were both Res. I gave it the sand camo (can't remember the name) and made the paint trim match the color of the muzzle on the breacher. I gave it the stock thrusters and also gave it the water-spray repair drone. 

 

Probably one of my best looking mechs aside from my reaper, sharpshooter, incinerator, technician, or a select few others I can't think of without my garage on hand.

If you take the solid teal paintjob and turn down the saturation it matches the color of the elite parts of the reaper somewhat and the color of the KE-Sabot. I used the technician arms and I changed the legs somehow but I had the elite chassis on for sure.

get fuzzy bunnyng rekt cosmetic repair drone color matching?

why not just paint a target on there and repair in the line of fire so they get a clear view of your visually appealing cosmetic choices for your repair drone mech combo just be4 you explode in a ball of fire, hell lets give the ball of fire you explode into confetti cosmetics so we can all be playing halo with grunt exploding heads

Archmech introduced me to the ballerness that is a single thruster on certain mech chassis. He's got some glam up his sleeves.

I feel that it is neccessary to point out that there are two schools of thought to herken customization.  While Lauren has dutifully pointed out how to make your mechs look sweet - and they do look damn sweet, I might add - she has completely forgotten the polar opposite of "sweet":

A most difficult to match skin, but got the arms, legs and striping to match Ganesha's headress, etc:

As you mentioned, the color scheme of the mech and trim should match the thrusters. I think these work very well in that regard.

 

 

 

 

 

Myself, I prefer the trim colors to be blend invisibly, however, there aren't any thrusters that really compliment that kind of scheme.
