So, because apparently a lot of people here in the community are salty (which is understandable) I am going to put my own two since here.
First off, going to other platforms is not a bad thing. The fact that Xbox One and PS4 support Cross Play with PC is not a bad thing. Actually, you will be surprised at how skilled someone can get with a controller.
Anyways, this is actually good in a lot of sense. What I see here is one thing: Resolution of previous tech debt. Furthermore, what i also see is the fact that the game had been ported to DX11. Do you know how much better pipelining DX11 has compared to DX9? Do you know what that means? Better performance plain and simple. Furthermore, they had to do a lot of recompiling, updating servers, server-to-server and services in general to ready everything for consoles. Guess what boys and girls, that means it allows them to get even more intimate with the code, find more issues, get feedback on things that are console only (which, btw, modern consoles are PCs you know). This would mean the CODE portion would spill over to the PC side of things regardless of what they do.
You guys did see that they were getting things ready so everything would be in lock-step right? That means updates would come across ALL platforms, not just PC. Furthermore, it was announced at E3. You know what that means? New players. Do you know what new players mean? Growth. All you neighsayers can fuzzy bunny and whine all you want, but from my stand point this would open this game up to a MUCH larger audience. How many people actually own a PC that can play a game halfway decent? Not a lot I can tell you that. How many people play console? A LOT.
Most people want to just launch a game and play. The fact that reloaded went through all this effort is because they are serious about the game. They are serious about us. Drop your shitshow at the door people and open your minds. This is a huge opportunity. Something that the previous devs missed and messed up. They barely advertised. Since Reloaded is already a INCOME and has their "priorities" clearly defined (though not in the direction many of us want them, though that is not necessarily a bad thing) means a lot. The other fact that they have allied themselves with 505 Games is HUGE! Since when have any of you heard anything bad about those guys. I sure in the hell haven't.
Sum it all up, all I see here is huge potential for growth. Something that has been sorely lacking with Hawken for a long time. So, all of you whining, short-sighted scrubs get up, poke your head out and smell the roses. Things are going to start looking lively around here before long.
